Any info on the video/audio specs on No Country? The US BD from Disney will no doubt be AVC/PCM, and even though the HD DVD import is almost twice the price of the BD, I'd be tempted if the audio is DTS MA.

Really need to make better use of my BD player, though - I haven't even powered it on in the last two weeks.

No there was no info regarding audio on the Amazon UK order page. Just the usual basic The only audio info I found is for the BD version its PCM 5.1 Surround.

My Bleak House shipped on Sunday or Monday from Amazon UK, I should receive it soon. Maybe today. I'll post some comments when I've had a chance to check it.

It is a Paramount release in Europe and Australia. I don't think Paramount has ever used any form of DTS on HD DVDs. I would think it is either Dolby TrueHD or DD+. I haven't seen the specs though.

Watch Impress has posted a collection of information regarding each HD DVD distributor in Japan and their plans regarding HD DVD releases in the future (also for blank media).

In Japanese:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/do...0219/hddvd.htm

More or less understandable when translated through Babelfish:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr
(you need to put the URL there manually and choose Japanese->English).

I get the feeling that all announced releases are on track (except it's not so clear for Universal and Paramount who have not received any information from the head office). Local distributors seem to want to release what they have announced and keep an eye on the market for the future, though some of them say they have no plans to release after the announced releases. Some are giving some hope that they may still release more stuff even after the annouced titles.

Thanks for the info, again by the looks of it, come April/May any new releases in japan will be very small, maybe a couple a month at most.....Lets face it the last 7 days have finished HD off, sad but true, I think T2 Ult will prob be my last HD, well new title anyway, I'm waiting for the big bargains to come before buying loads at cheap ass prices!

They used DTS ES 6.1 for Face/Off.

Also on Top Gun - which I actually preferred to the also included 5.1 TrueHD audio, but I think I'm DTS prejudiced from my DVD days. But Paramount has never used DTS-HD or MA. I didn't realize this was a Paramount release in Europe/ANZ; it will probably be DD+, maybe TrueHD.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one though I have it and Top Gun too. But usually they go for TrueHD or DD+ so these were somehow exceptions to their normal specs.

Looks like Hairspray has been canned, even the 3 releases they put out have got 15% off on their website, dvdstore have taken off Hairspray ordering. Though the previously delayed western films seem to have got new dates of 23rd april.
