Default King Kong (1976) [French Import] - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of the 1976 version of 'King Kong' is up. He says this this HD DVD import is a mixed bag -- the video transfer is surprisingly good, but the soundtrack can't overcome its dated origins and there's not a single supplement in sight.

You should link to the UK version at the end.

They actually have it in stock and after VAT comes off, it's £21.27 ($44.77)

He forgot to mention the high-pitched audio track. Compare it to the Paramount DVD and it is clearly off pitch.

Default King Kong SE

Actually, there WAS a Special Edition 2-disc French SD DVD of the 1976 Kong with several deleted scenes. I was really hoping they would have ported those to the HD-DVD.

It's available from Amazon.fr.

This is my #2 guilty pleasure movie after "Omega Man." If it looks as good as the review indicates, I'm going to have to get this. I keep telling myself I'm not going to buy a lot of movies till a winner in the format war emerges, but stuff like this I can't pass up.

I got this a few months ago and it actually looked really good for how old it is. They are right about the audio though it could have been a little better. I'm glad I picked it up. Well worth the purchase.
Mischa.

Actually saw this in the theater at the time. LOL. I was just a kid.
was definitely a big deal then and pretty cool.
Of course now that seems laughable.
can't see importing this, but maybe would get it once it comes stateside just to have all 3 versions. (original on sd of course)
