So I watched "Die Insel" this morning, and boy was it exciting!
I'll be one of the first to rip Michael Bay a new asshole, but I cannot do that to him on this project. It worked on so many levels, there's no way I was able to hate it. Yeah, I was shocked too. ![]() First off, this is a reference disc all the way. PQ is OUT FUCKING STANDING! It's flawless. The DD+ AQ was also badass. When the opening credits rolled, I noticed that the screenplay was written by Orci/Kurtzman, the douchebags that have ruined so many projects, but was surprised at what I can only guess--lots of their material was probably axed, because the story's writer was Caspian Tredwell-Owen (which if you read, he's being sued or has been sued for "stealing"), explains why it's such a watchable film. IMO. Either that, or being this was Bay's first solo project without Bruckheimer, was on a very short leash by his handlers (AKA producers). IDK. Sean Bean was great as the villain, I think he rocks. The supporting cast was great, and it was a lot of fun. The keyword being FUN! I highly recommend this flick, get it if you can. I know there's a UK version, and mine is the German version, I believe they're from the same masters, but different artwork, etc... |

Yeah, great fun flick. The choice for the female lead really adds visually to this movie also.
As with all Studio Canal HD DVD releases, all versions are essentially the same, whether from Germany, France or the UK.

Yes it is an awesome movie, but it's a shame the movie is 95% ripped off from The Clonus Horror (aka Clonus). The original creator never made a penny from it even though Bay & co was successfully sued and forced to pay like a million dollars or so. I will say the original movie Clonus was very low budget and not nearly as great as Bays version and will agree the HD-DVD is amazing. If you ever watch both films you will notice they are nearly identical in plot and Clonus was made in the 70s.
