Thanks thats what I thought. I'd really like to pick a copy up, but don't want to risk not being able to watch it.

It works on my BH200...not sure why. I think it's a new pressing.

Must be. Lucky you.

The copy I had, which I picked up around July, wouldn't play on the BH200 I had.

yeah i'm just pointing out the one obvious flaw it has... i also suspect a possible deinterlaced 1080i master being used... a few spots that have the kind of jaggies one might find in such a situation...

still looks a hell of alot better than the DVD

In all seriousness I have no issues with this disc. It looks and sounds as good as any disc I own.

Damn it. That's what I get for going on impulse. I should have read up on the problems this particular flick has been having on peoples players.

I have an A-3, and it won't play. I bought it band new off of Ebay, and the seller does not offer a refund.

I guess I'll hold on to it, maybe a future firmware will resolve this. Or I can sell it/trade on the marketplace.

Did the replacement program workout for those that sent it in?

So sorry to hear about that, cheez. If you're going to be getting into HD DVD imports, then I'd recommend picking up a G2 HD DVD player (such as an A2 or A20). G2 players are the only gen that can play all HD DVD titles. You can get them fairly cheap off ebay. I'm not sure if the replacement program is still going, maybe someone else knows about that. Good luck.

Thanks Bruce, I'll look into getting an A2. CHEAP being the key word.

I saw 5 auctions for A2 and A20 units end for less than $50 shipped in the last week so they can be had pretty easily.

If you do a search Christopheles sent his disc back to Pathe and they replaced it for him. Have NO idea if the offer is still open but his new copy DID work in the 3rd gen players (I have 5 copies over the last year and NONE of them would play in anything but my A2/XA2/805

I posted this last year on HDD about the replacement I got, Same thing as you cheez, but I bought my disc from Mediadis.com and it wouldn't play in my 3rd Gen player. I contacted the company below ( correspondence is in french), I had to pay for shipping the disc to them ( only disc no case ) about 3 weeks later I got another disc in the mail as a replacement that plays fine in my A3. On a side note Pathe produced other titles with this problem incase your buying other imports. another one I have is Two Brothers which won't load, I didn't bother sending that one in since I do have a 2nd gen player aswell and it plays fine in that.

Anyway's I don't know if they're still operating as it seemed to be a company commissioned by Pathe to replace these disc's and with HD DVD out of prod. they're contract with the company may have expired?

E-mail them first, they were quick to respond.

Yikes. Is it true that this is in 1.78:1 and not the OAR of 2.35?

With this, and Equilibrium, those are two films that I can't get properly in HD that I'd love to.
