I have a French import of Stalingrad and I have been very happy with the PQ.

I have a copy of it too.
Works on my EP-10, however when I put it on my HTPC, my HD DVD drive goes nuts and won't read it - freezes at 14 secs into the movie, i.e. when the pathe logo comes up.

Using power dvd 7.3. May that be the problem?

Drive is LG-GGW-H20L. (UK edition)

UPC is 3388330031220

Edit: Got it working, don't know what I did. Lists the directory of the disc fine in Vista Business x32 SP1. Doesn't stop at 14 seconds into the movie anymore.

Got it, works on my HTPC, just takes forever to load the menu (from memory 1 min after the disc is inserted) plays fine after that.

So... Are we ready to bestow upon Stalingrad the title of 'Most Problematic HD DVD Release'?

I vote Yes.

Works fine on my EP-10 no problems but when it comes to my LG GGW H20L it crashes randomly (i.e. sometimes it will play, sometimes it won't, luck of the draw)

All I can say is... let's hope my Toshiba HD DVD player doesn't fry otherwise it'll be pretty hard finding a compatible player for that one movie title

Yes, this is definitely the most problematic release. Out of six HD-DVD players I own, my copy only works in one of them.

It's too bad that it won't get fixed with a firmware update.

Perhaps it will. They have promised up to five years of future updates.

It's not so much this title which is the issue, but the Fox Pathe releases from France. For example, 'Two Brothers' is very finicky, even in my XA2, and I think that title is even more problematic. Stalingrad is getting all the attention simply because more people have it.

Good to hear. Hopefully, it get's rectified. I can play Stalingrad on my 360 w/Add-on, but not my standalone.

Yeah doesn't work too well. I can get it to play (by ejecting the disc and putting it back in) on my LG HD DVD drive. Will play eventually.

Does anyone have DTS MA lossless working on the title? (not core)

Yes, according to my receiver it says DTS- HD on the receiver when I play the title. The picture and audio are stunning. It wouldn't play on my A-35 but plays perfectly on my X-A2.

Zero chance on either.
