Default Hoodwinked!

This is a Polish release of a US movie, and frankly I never heard of it before I became aware of the HD DVD release a few months ago. It would have been a Weinstein release here, so perhaps that explains its relative obscurity. In any event, I'm glad I discovered it, because this is one very funny movie. I was laughing hard throughout, it's one of the funniest animation movies I've seen in a long time.

It involves Little Red, the Big Bad Wolf and a few other amusing characters, that happen to meet up at Grandma's house where an 'incident' occurs. The cops and a detective show up and an investigation follows, where everyone contributes their alibi. It's all great fun, and combines adult film noir humor so it's not just for kids. Several nice songs in the movie, too. 4.5 stars.

PQ-wise, it's 'ok', but not up to the level of what films like Shrek 3 and Cars look like. I'll give it 4 stars, but still that a little below average for animation. It still looks very good however, but it's definitely not one to show off to your friends.

Audio is pretty good, with a DTS-HD track (1.5 mbps), so no disappointments on that end. 4.25 stars

I haven't checked out the extras, but it does have a few interviews, trailers and other stuff.

Watched Hoodwinked tonight with the family and all of us enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the PQ was VERY good (as all animation seems to be) and I loved the other movie tie ins (the wolf as Fletch, The granny as xXx etc).. All in all if you get a chance to get a copy of this I highly suggest it. Very funny movie, pretty darn good animation for a indie film, and pretty clever all around.

PQ was a VERY solid 4.5
AQ was a solid 4

Does this polish title have english audio, or subtitles? The original DVD was one of my favorite animated movies.

It has english audio. I love almost everything about this movie and my girls both love it. I have probably watched this 20 times since I got it.

Just watched this this weekend. I thought the PQ was exceptional, audio was so-so. I expected a little more excitement from the soundtrack, but overall I was very pleased. Plenty of fun for kids and adults to watch.

It's my favorite animated movie on HD DVD. Replay value is sky high, too.

Ya, this movie kicks ass... and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it contains DTS HD-Master audio! I didn't see that referenced on the published specs anywhere for this disc, but then again I believe it is a Weinstein title and they are notorious for not documenting their hi res audio on their titles.
