Bugs! 3D is a short documentary film (which is rather interestingly sponsored by Terminix) Guess they film them and then kill them?
First off this is narrated by Judy Dench and I am not sure what it is about British voiceovers but they just seem to work for me. It is a documentary (of a sort) so having someone that you can stand to listen to helps tremendously. Picture Quality: First of all this is the only HD DVD (that I am aware of) that is presented in either 2D or 3D (from a menu selection). The 3D works pretty well in most scenes but at times seems to fall a bit flat. The disc does come with 2 sets of the cheesy paper glasses so you are ready to go out of the box. The video itself is pretty standard fare for documentary film on Discovery Channel so it is very "pretty" Probably a good strong 4 out of 5 for video quality Audio Quality - Judy Dench is a wonderful narrarator and the sound field is pretty decent. Nothing spectacular here but not bad Only real complaint I have on this disc is the crappy packaging and it is a little short. The packaging is in a cardboard slipcase but the "case" itself is also a cardboard "folder" type. Extras: Not sure on these as my daughters kept forcing me to go back and look at the "icky spiders" Will repost on these |

Do the "glasses" work over glasses?
That is the one stumbling block of those cheezy red/green jobbers, is half of them won't fit over a pair of glasses. ![]()

Sorry I couldn't tell you..I don't wear glasses nor does anyone in my house. I will ask if someone who does happens to come over and see if it does

The glasses do work over glasses, but I saw better 3d effects if I put the 3d glasses on first then put my regular glasses in front of those. I would assume you could get nicer 3d glasses off ebay and use those with glasses as well.
I've watched about half this movie with my father. He's in his 60's and got a kick out of the 3d effects. I wouldn't put quality up to that of a 3d presentation at a theme park like Disney or Universal studios, but it is still impressive and worth the low price of the disc in my opinion. |
