Default Rescue Dawn (DFW - Netherlands) - pictures & impressions

Just received my copy of Rescue Dawn from the Netherlands.

I didn't watch it completely yet, but as far as I can tell the quality is very good.
The aspect ratio on the cover is wrong, it's definitely 1.85:1, not 2.35:1.

All specs: http://areahd.dvdtiefpreise.com/?p=226

I got if for 19.99 EUR + 3.50 shipping to Germany from freerecordshop.com

Nice! I would have bought this but I already bought it in the other format when there were no HD DVD versions announced yet. I loved the movie. IMDB also says that the original aspect ratio is 1.85 : 1, so that should be just right.

I'd certainly recommend this movie to anybody who hasn't seen it.

I'll post some impressions about the other new DFW titles when I receive them from bol.com (Hero, Tristan&Isolde, Home of the Brave).

I watched it yesterday and I was impressed.

The overall PQ ranges between 3.5 and 4.5 of 5.
The AQ was very good, especially in the jungle. Sometimes I thought I was watching Planet Earth . But, take into consideration that this is no Transformers. Half of the movie the protagonists were whispering.

Kannisto already recommended the movie and I hook up with him.

+1 on a recommendation on this movie... since aparently the dutch transfer is good (it seems like DFW's transfers have been getting better from what i've read) i'll probably be converting the bluray cover i recently finished to hd dvd for this release

Will not be buying this movie as I already own the Blu-ray version. I can't imagine this being any better as the BD is absolutely flawless from beginning to end.

It has one giant flaw though: BD+. When I tried to play it on my PC once, it just didn't work. They should put a big warning sticker on all BD+ titles.

Thankfully I use my PS3 to play my Blu-ray movies and it works flawlessly.

It works fine on my PS3 too but I think there are various other setups that have problems with BD+ titles. Wish they wouldn't use such an overblown DRM system and if they have to, they should at least mark those titles clearly so that people would be able to know about it beforehand.
