Default Any reviews on Japanese Underworld?

Saw the movie mentioned and it was the first I've heard on a Japanese release of Underworld.

Atleast Japan is using TrueHD on their releases and their transfers seem to be quality.

Anyone have any info?

Kannisto has it and says that PQ is comparable to the German import, or very good. He owns both imports. I imagine he'd be the person to talk to if you want to learn more.

FYI, the Japanese import is the theatrical cut, not the extended cut.

I was thinking about making an impressions thread on this title earlier but I got many interesting titles at the same time and then didn't have time for it.

I took case pics and checked the technical details on my PC setup.

Pics:

Details shown by WinDVD9 Plus:
Quote:
Video stream:
Type: H264
Bitrate: 24.499 Mbps
Framerate: 29.970 Hz
Resolution: 1920x1080
Aspect ratio: 16x9

Audio stream:
Type: Packed PCM
Bitrate: 2457 Kbps
Number of main channels: 6
LFE Channel: None
Sampling Frequency: 48khz
Bits Per Sample: 24
Aspect ratio is 2.35:1 (OAR) and this is the theatrical version. Runtime marked on the case is 121 minutes and it was just a few seconds over that.

Disc image size: HD-30: 21.6 GB (23 237 591 040 bytes).

I watched it in full and thought the PQ/AQ is excellent. The movie is a bit grainy in some darker parts but the grain was presented beatifully as well.

I can't notice much difference at all when comparing PQ/AQ to the German Extended Edition though, but my audio setup is not supporting lossless anyway.

There were just some SD trailers and some textual cast/staff information (in Japanese) as extras.

Thank you!

Looks like since PQ is on par, I'll probably opt for TrueHD, if I decide to buy.

Just wanted to say, I just got this in the mail. It looks and sounds awesome. Glad I went with the Japanese TrueHD version.
