Default Testosteron (Poland - TiM) impressions

Disc data size: HD-15, 13.3 GB (14 308 573 184 bytes)
Disc is not AACS protected.

Story:
The movie is a comedy focusing on aftermath of a wedding ceremony that went bad. The bride said no at the final moment and left the groom at the altar. Afterwards the groom, his father and an assortment of other men who were at the wedding party go to the place where the party after the wedding was planned to take place and try to figure out what happened. One of the men in the group is accused of having been involved with the bride and messing up the wedding.

The men spend the evening and night discussing and analyzing male behaviour vs. female behaviour when it comes to relationships and through the course of it they find out many connections between themeselves they didn't know about. The father of the groom is also the father of some other men in the group, but they have different mothers. The men also discuss the impact of hormones (specifically Testosterone) in the differences of male and female behaviour.

It seems many of the men have been dumped in some past relationship all of a sudden and one by one they recount their past experiences in somewhat fantasy-oriented flashbacks. There are quite many genuinely funny turns of events. There are also quite many references to e.g. ornithology and other animal sciences as a couple of the men are scientists and they also comment based on male and female behaviour of some animal species. The movie is a quite talkative and clever.

The first 10 minutes or so were kind of difficult to follow as I didn't know anything about the movie beforehand and it started off with a rather fast pace without much explanation into the background of the situation, but after that the story started becoming clear gradually.

PQ and AQ:
Picture quality is pretty good overall. There is a good level of sharpness and the picture is pretty clean with almost no grain or noise at any point. The black levels seem slightly elevated and the "black bars" above and below the image are actually not very black but gray. In scenes with fast movement I thought I noticed some more judder than usual, but it wasn't too bad.

Audio is pretty much dialogue and music only, there are not many surround sound effects overall.

Overall I quite liked it, although at some point in the latter half the pace of the movie got a bit slow. It's a rather original comedy with many funny turns.

Thanks, kannisto! Based on your reviews of the two movies/discs it sounds like Swiadek Koronny is a pass for me but I might pick up Testosteron down the road for the right price. Sounds interesting but I'm in no hurry to pick it up.

Glad Tony is stocking this one and Katyn. I'll have to pick them up ASAP but damn I'm going broke buying all these imports before they disappear. Really nice prices Tony has because it would cost several bucks more to import them.

Xploited has become one helluva source for imports. He's got 115 titles in his inventory and one you know about him: if you order it from them, you're gonna get it real quick and at a good price.

Yeah, if my Katyn doesn't arrive from Poland soonish, I may need to order it from Tony. It might be a hassle to start discussing the missing disc issue with the Polish site, though I'll certaintly try to contact them if the disc doesn't show up before end of this week. Hopefully they can correspond in English though the site is in Polish only.

For some reason I've not been getting any e-mails from edvd.pl about this order at all but the status of the order changed to the same final status "Zrealizowane" (as my previous delivered order has) about 1.5 weeks ago at which point I think they had shipped the disc. My previous order from there arrived in about 5 days from shipping but that was the only one so I don't have a lot of reference to compare to.

Amen on that one. I ordered Equilibrium from him when he got those last few in (had to talk myself into spending that much cash on a movie) and teh disc came teh next day. I can't say enough good things about Xploited. Waiting on my tax refund and then I am going to go a little insane on his site

I hope you like it!

A few minutes after I wrote my note about not receiving Katyn yet, it arrived in the mail I'll post an impressions thread on that one soon. I didn't have time to watch any of it yet though as I went to work but I took case pics already.
