Default T2 Ultimate Edition HD DVD

I can't wait for the German release of T2: Ultimate Edition HD DVD.

I'll be importing that one for sure.

Thanks for posting that. I was planning to get the French one in the near future, but I'll probably hold off till this one is out so I can find out if it's a better package (which should be as long as the PQ is equal to or greater than the French release).

EDIT: Wow that video was great. Lots of great extras to look forward to in this release.

Sounds awesome. Glad I sold my french import. I might pick this up. I really dislike the current Blu-ray version.

DAMN!

I'm going to have to do my first re-import.

My UK version looks great, but this one's going to be my first HD DVD double-dip... and it's an import!

I have the French version (got it as soon as it came out) but I still haven't even watched it (lot of buffer). I'll have to see how good this one turns out to be and what the price is

HD DVD needs to concentrate on independent companies now to attempt to stay alive imo. Couldn't this still be cancelled? I just don't think this will even come out now. I mean maybe. I don't know who ultimately controls all these smaller contracts. Kannisto, any idea who would ultimately pull the plug here? Would it be Toshiba?

Just emailed Tony at Xploited to ask him when he'll have the pre order up.

I'm not an expert on those distribution deals and such but I would think the independent / smaller distribution companies make their own decisions of what they put out on HD DVD based on what titles they have distribution rights for, and considering all the licencing and production cost factors against estimated sales. I think HD DVD has much lower entry costs for such smaller companies compared to Blu-ray if there are not special agreements with e.g. BDA group that take away some of the costs. I wouldn't expect this kind of titles that have already been announced with details to be cancelled in light of Warner's (abhorrent) move, but if some smaller distributors see the future of the format as getting weak, it might affect their future release plans. I'm certainly hoping all the smaller distributors keep on pushing HD DVD releases out and that the customerbase keeps growing globally.

I also think those smaller distributors are very important for HD DVD, I'm hoping to see more and more foreign and smaller distributors in the game. A lot of the time I find the releases coming out from smaller distributors to be more interesting than most of the mainstream stuff that comes out from the biggest studios.

From Tony:

hi!
it's due out in early march, but i probably won't be accepting pre-orders
due to various reasons (ever fluctuating currency exchange, confirmed specs
and player incompatibilities which has been more of a problem of late). if
you want i can email you once it's in stock. just let me know.
thanks!
tony

What about this French release? Can't imagine it's in another language than French, is it?

Original audio track is available in English on the French release in addition to the included dub track. It has two discs, original theatrical cut and director's cut on separate discs. The theatrical cut has forced subtitles when the movie is watched with original audio track, but those can be moved to be below the video frame (2.35:1) and can be made quite small. The director's cut does not have any forced subtitles, just optional ones.
