Smile Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky impressions

I finally got my order from Amazon UK in.

Comes in your standard "elite" UK case. Has an animated menu in the same type of style as Galapagos. The back of the case list it as 1080i/16:9 and the only audio it has is LPCM Stereo. No special features besides what appears to be a SD photo gallery but I think we can give this a pass since the main feature is 149 minutes long.

I haven't watched it yet but through my skim through, it looked pretty good. There is a fine sheet of grain over the whole thing (even though I heard it was shot with digital cameras, not on film) but colors look good for being shot drab and there was a good amount of detail.

I've never seen the DVD or the broadcast so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Also, is there some way I can confirm whether this is 1080i or 1080p?

Here are some pictures:

Thanks for sharing your impressions! Please comment more about the content itself once you have watched some of it! I'm still thinking about buying this one but I've held back since I don't know much about the series.

I watched it last night and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It's a very dialog driven drama and thankfully the dialog doesn't feel super dated like some other period pieces.

It's three episodes, each one focusing on a different character.

Solid 8.5 in my book.

If you want a summary, I'll happily go into some more detail.
