Default Death at a Funeral (German import) impressions

Some pics:

Distributor: Concorde
Video: 1080p 1.78:1 / VC-1
Audio: DTS-HD 5.1 English, DTS-HD MA 5.1 German
Optional German subtitles

Nice pop-up menu.

Extras:
- Photo Gallery (HD)
- Trailers (German and US) (SD)
- B-Roll (SD)
- Interviews (smaller window, HD'ish but not very good PQ)
- Trailers for Alpha Dog and Tideland (HD, German audio)

I haven't watched the movie yet, just took a look. PQ looks excellent on this one, very sharp and clean! Definitely a high quality release. I'll comment more when I have watched the whole movie.

I watched a few days ago for the first time, and was very impressed with the movie itself. Very funny flick and well done. Rather unpredictable, too.

PQ was fine, it didn't wow me, but was definitely adequate.

I watched it last night. I also liked the movie quite much, it was very original and had some pretty funny turns of events. PQ was good as well though not as special as I thought initially when I took a few peeks only. I'd still give it 4 stars for PQ as a whole. Audio is mostly dialogue and some music, no special sound effects.

I might pick this one up. I've never bought an import before though. Are the menus on these easy enough to understand so that I can easily turn on the English and not the German audio?!

Menus are simple and I think you can change the audio track and subtitle settings directly with the remote during playback as well. There is a pop-up menu that has 5 sub-menus if I remember correctly. One of the sub-menus contains the options to select between 2 audio tracks (original English and German) and a checkbox to switch German subtitles on/off. When you select English audio from that menu, German subtitles are automatically checked on and pop-up menu goes away though so you have to go there once more to switch them off - unless you do the settings directly with remote without using the menu. Anyway, it's very easy to figure the menu out even if you don't understand German (I don't either).

With this movie, the title of the movie that appears in the beginning was in German, i.e. not shown as "Death at a Funeral" but as "Sterben Fur Anfanger" (with accent marks on some letters that I couldn't type now) in case that bothers somebody.

Got my copy of 'Death at a Funeral' from Xploited today and just watched it...Transfer is a satisfying purchase, but don't expect any boom boom sonics from the flick to demo to friends. Very funny flick, imo. I even rewound some parts because it was just hilarious, especially the "Uncle Alfie going to the toilet with a little help" scene.

It was an all around laugher. So if you enjoy Mr. Bean, Benny Hill, and some UK comedy, you won't be disappointed.
