Thanks for the info, guys.

It's a shame they didn't build in any hooks to allow for subtitles to be downloaded via the web connectivity. That would be great for a lot of non-English language releases.

It's definitely possible with HD DVD, downloading of PiP tracks has been done I think. The potential of the format is still not being used to it's full extent, IMO.

What's the running time on the French HD DVD import?

I want the extended SD cut of 141 minutes, is it the same?

Back of the case says 2 hours and 20 minutes. Is that close enough?

Um, sort of. Unless there happens to be 1 whole minute of deleted frames.

Anyone else?

Thanks bruceames!

Is that one region free and 141 minutes long?

it is the exact same French release by TFI.
TFI released this title on both formats.
back reads 2h20min
It is region free with English subs except for the French songs which have no subs.
I ordered mine from amazon.fr.
you have to search under "La Mome"

And just for completeness I have the boxed set and it is the exact same disc as the standard release (on BD and HD) just with a lot of extras, a box that doesn't fit on anything, and other assorted stuff

Yeah, the difference is the boxed set has a CD soundtrack, a nice book, a calender and sheet music to one of the songs. Like a tard, I passed on it on got the one everyone else has so I could save $32.

it's only available through sellers now on amazon.fr
but you could always go that route.
pricey though.
the deluxe version was always a wallet buster.

I bought mine from the DVDTalk forums since I missed the original deal when it was on Amazon.fr and now it is almost impossible to find. I got a stellar deal on it when I bought it and while I have watched the movie I have never even looked at the extra stuff that came in the box other than to get it out of the way so I could get to the movie. And the box pisses me off as the thing is frickin HUGE. That single box set has been the SOLE reason why I never bought the Pans Labyrinth French Boxed Set. Love the movie but hate having the ONLY shelving I have that holds them would be the ones that I have my laserdiscs on (which if you have ever seen a laserdisc, the boxed set for La Mome is slightly larger than LD packaging in size and is about 3-4 inches deep. Nice set but god it is big

The French Pans Labyrinth comes beautifully packaged in a DVD-sized case, so it'll fit just fine on your shelf.

True that, it reminds me of Extended Edtion packaging for LOTR on SD.

Wasn't there a deluxe Pans that had a book, some stills, and 4 or 5 discs in it (one of which was a HD DVD?) or maybe my sleep depreived brain and/or my constant scouring of the Amazons and Ebays of the world has finally turned my brain to mush
