Default Is there an A3 specific FW that will...

...make the A3 DTS HD MA & DolbyTrueHD bitstream capable? If so then where can I get it?

With all the talk of making an A30 into an A35 with a FW update, I want to make my A3 be able to bitstream the codecs so that my receiver can do the heavy work of decoding. I don't see why that couldn't be done.

Even with the custom firmware for the A30, it cannot bitstream DTS HD MA nor DolbyTrueHD, because the internal chipset of the A30 is incapable of bitstreaming those codecs.
Therefore, I cannot imagine there is any firmware out there that will permit bitstreaming of lossless codecs by the A3.

I'm not sure if the question was meant in an ironic way by the OP, but if it is a genuine question I can give you the answer why.

The A3 and A30 have HDMI 1.2a chip, while the A35 has HDMI 1.3. Thus making the A35 capable of bitstreaming the lossless codecs, as the two others can't.

Yes, it was a genuine question.

Your response is the most logical and easy to understand answer I could imagine. Thankyou. Now, is it possible to 'swap' the chips? Could it work then?

Completely OT but, Rich, I used the FW disc you made for me for my A35. After all was said and done and I have experimented with all the FW versions, I ended up laving the 4.0FW on the A35 since it has the best operation. Thanks for the disc though.

I guess it could work in theory on an A30 flashed with A35 firmware, but as far as I remember from pics of the mainboards there were a few other "chips" in connection with the HDMI chip on an A35 compared to an A30.

Yes - my experience also supports that firmware 4.0 is the best of them all for the A30 and A35 - and kudos to Toshiba for developing and offering firmware updates long after HD-DVD production had stopped.
