Default HD-A30 Problem - Shows Blank Screen with HDMI Connection

Yesterday I hooked up the HDMI cable from the HD-A30 to the new receiver, it showed no signal and black screen on the TV then I connected directly to the TV like it was before. It still does not work.
I used to watch the movie via HDMI connection before but haven't done it since I upgraded the firmware to 4.0 which was about 4-5 months ago.
I tried to turn the TV off, the player off, reconnected the HDMI, reset the resolution, and etc... and it still doesn't work.
I am wondering if I had fried the HDMI on the player somehow?
Do you guys know how to solve this problem?

Do you have both component and HDMI cables connected at the same time? HDMI won't work while component is connected. How did you "reset" the resolution?

Yes, I had both of them, HDMI and Component, connected at same time and only component worked.
I tried to connect HDMI by itself too and the result is the same.
I reset the resolution by connect the component cable and went to the manu.
My TV can handle 1080P, this player used to work with this tv before, so I had my resolution at 1080P.

Try doing a reset on the player by pushing Display, 7, 0, 1, Display while you have the HDMI lead connected. The player will shut down automatically.

Yes, it will reset the player to factory defaults. The player needs of course to be on when you do this.

Does it work like the reset on the Menu?
When I connected with the Component, I had reset under the maintenence Menu too. But it only reset the resolution, sound, and some other parameters.
It still doesn't work though.

I will try your suggestion as soon as I get home. Thank you very much.

I'm not sure if it does the same as initialize in the maintenance menu, but I suppose it's worth a try.

Could it be the HDMI lead or the HDMI input on your TV that is faulty?

It will try again with the TV that it used to work.
This morning I tried with the new Sony TV. When I call Toshiba customer support they said it might be that the player is not compatible with the TV. If it is in that case, they can't help.

They offer that if your player broke I could send it to them to exchange to a new one but I have to pay $115 for the new unit. They don't do repair.

I don't think the $115 is worth it.

Do you have a blu-ray player or something else that you can use to test the HDMI cable? I doubt very much that the A30 is not compatible with your Sony TV.

Yes I have tested the HDMI cable with the PS3 and it works fine.

My 2 years old sony 52" LCD TV that used to connect to this HD player, it used to work before. Last time I played HD movie with this TV was about 5 months ago. Now it doesn't work.

Does anyone has the player that HDMI just not working?
Such as HDMI port fried or something else?

I am afriad that I mighe fry the HDMI port because when I connected the HDMI, I saw a little spark. I accidently pushed the button to turn on the player while grabbing the unit to try to connect the HDMI.

That definitely might have fried the HDMI port - you shouldn't try to connect anything to a player when it's powered on.

Here is an update. I tired again yesterday after I call the Toshiba Customer.
They told me to do the HDMI hand shake by turning off TV, unplug for 1 minute and turn back on then turn the HD player on. I did it and wait for 3-5 minutes and it worked.

So I know the HDMI port of the HD player is good then I unpluged and disconnected the HDMI cable because I wanted to put the unit on the shelf.
I turned the player on and it did not work. I tried everything, the HDMI hand shake and it still doesn't work.

I don't know what the problem is now. I am very confuse and get tired with this machine. Do you guys have any idea what happen?

I regret that I moved the player after I got it working but I can't leave it on the floor.

Do you want to try to reinstall the firmware?
