i called a toshiba # i got from a friend. I deleted it from my phone but i will get the # tommorow and post it. Basically i just told the guy that it got fucked up and he said they have a trade in thing and the new one would cost 115 shipping included (i had to pay 10 bucks to ship the broken player) and i said hell yes for 115. I actually made a joke to the dude i said something like how many of those new
players you guys got lying around ? and homeboy kinda laughed but he wouldnt give me a strait answer . Toshiba was super nice though and they were americans not hindu so they could actually speak english and knew what they were talking about

Hans that's a nice reassurance. I feel a lot more secure purchasing my used A30 of EBay knowing that in the unfortunate instance that this player takes a crap I can get a new unit from Toshiba and can continue to watch the HD DVD format for years to come. I know that seems to be a common concern for HD DVD supporters.

i hear it dude , thats why i bought the player to begin with , i have an a3 1080i one and wanted 1080p and a backup player. I made sure to ask the guy that it was NEW, cause im sure sometimes it would be a refurbished unit

Well so nice to see people contributing to this thread again.
I still love my A35 and hope to keep it for a long time.
For me it was an easy decision as I really wanted a unit for bitstreaming and the A35 was more cost-efficient than the other models. Now I had an LG combo player but honestly, it was a better BD player than HD DVD player. Menuing, playback and audio/picture quality work much better on this play than my BH200. I have one DTSMA title (PAN'S LABRYNTH) and they only way you'll get to hear the lossless track is thru bitstreaming (and it's an excellent track). You can also do the PIP and internet connect. In addition to streaming DTSMA, I find that for DD+ tracks, that the bitstreaming option brings better audio quality, than player decode ever could. Given the majority of titles are DD+, this make sense to me. As for TRUHED titles, while I prefer the bitstream option, I won't say it's a nominal improvement over player decode.
Given that I was able to get several HD DVD titles dirt cheap, along with the price of the player and the enjoyment I get, I feel I made a very sound investment. Not dissatisfied in the least! -

damn right dude i think a whole new group of people like us bought into after it died , fuckin love those $3 movies and $50 dollar players. Not to mention the upscaling of standard dvd's is way better than PS3's upscaling

Some movies I just can't swallow spending even $10 on some of these catalog titles but I sure can spend $3 on them! I gotta figure out how you guys put the # of
and
in your sigs. I must be up to about 40 HD DVD by now and I've only been collecting them for about maybe 4 months. One example is Into the Wild. The best price I've seen on
is $14.99 but I got it as part of 9
I got for $30 shipped from a seller on EBay. All brand new discs.

Technically i was an early adopted(not the start but ithink it was 07, my brother convinced me to buy an 1080i hd a3 when they were 100 bucks on amazon but only had like 4 or 5 movies any barely watched them. But about 4 months ago on amazon i saw the bad ass movies for cheap. Then upgraded to a used a30 and the new 1 toshiba is sending me right now (<>..<>) im set for at least 10 years in terms of hardware.
