Have you called Toshiba about it?
Disc isn't warped at all? Maybe try renting one that you have issues with to narrow out defective discs?Home Theatre:

I haven't called Toshiba, as it is kinda late in the evening for that, but I am having the disc replaced.
The disc is perfectly flat as far as I can tell... another thing that I found is that the standard-definition side will not play either. The disc itself is just bad all the way around.
I took the disc out and watched The Twilight Zone without issue... played perfectly.
EDIT: The standard-definition side will not play in my HD DVD player or a standard DVD player. The disc itself is bad.Last edited by IceNine; 10-13-2007 at 12:47 AM.

[QUOTE=livingproof73;361969] The Twilight Zone looked and sounded better than I expected it to... It isn't demo material, but it is definitely MUCH better than I had ever seen it before.
There are NO extras on the disc though... well, one trailer that sucks, but no real extras. I am not a huge fan of extras anyway, but still.Lucifer! We are here for your praise, evil one. -

Just went format neutral
I got my a-35 on saturaday and have gotten the 408bc504 when i was playing transformers right in the middle of playback. Then it wouldn't even load 300 and displayed 408bc504 these were brand new discs so it wasn't the disc. I think there is something wrong with the player. I findly got 300 to play after much trial and error. Also when you pause it for a while the audio gets un synced.
Furthermore when you press stop and try to play again the player restarts the disc. Is this the same on all hd-dvd players or is it only the a 35. I find this very annoying if i pause it the audio unsyncs and if i stop it the disc starts over, for a 500 dollar player this is bs. Do i just have a lemon or are other players like this. -

The loss of audio sync when you pause is not common. However, it is unfortunately a part of the format spec that all HD DVDs will restart from the beginning when you restart them. Some discs have bookmarks that you can manually add and then access later through the Scene Selections menu (Warner usually includes that option).

My A3 did this code last night and I am quite disappointed. I had the add-on and it was flawless, of course I already sold it.

I'm hoping they get this fixed fast through firmware updates. -

I had it happen once with 300 and then several times in the exact same spot with Casino, but then I ran the firmware update and now everything plays perfectly fine including Casino.

I had a Toshiba HDA20. I got the update. Shrek The Third crapped out the day after I updated. The disk froze and refused to eject. Returned it to Future Shop outside the 30 days but kicked up a big stink because I had had the unit in the shop and they advised "update". Update took 22 days to get, putting me outside the return period. Well, I'm a lawyer and I really threaten to get nasty about it --- I know a video ombudsman and had done my homework.
They gave me a new HDA30 (no refund) and said it would not have the problem. Played Shrek - It froze and displayed 408bc504. Played Transformer and the same happened. Played 300 (which came with the HDA30!!!!) and it crapped out the same way.
NOT FIT FOR THE PURPOSE IT WAS INTENDED. MAKES A NICE PAPER WEIGHT THOUGH. TOSHIBA SHOULD BE COMPLETELY ASHAMED OF ITSELF!
Can Toshiba say "Class Action Proceeding"? -
