How do I roll back to 2.7 firmware for XA2?

AFAIK, the only way to rollback is to hexedit the 2.7 firmware to identify itself by a number higher than 3.0 (3.1) and reflash.

The player wont allow itself to be flashed with a firmware that has a lower version number than what's already on the machine.

I had mine on 2.8, and rolled back by going way back to FW 1.3. However, I did that as a first step in converting the XA2 to a region free player (however it won't output PAL, which is bad for Plasma owners but not bad for LCD owners). For some reason it will 'update' to 1.3, and from there you go forward to 2.7. Here's a link to the ISOs, but do it at your own risk please, if you decide to do it.

I have the 4 versions of the XA2 software, going back to 2.5. I also have the modified one that rolls back to 2.8. Although I guess I could make one going back to any of those earlier versions. It is too big to email so I am thinking I could burn cds and mail them out for say $5, to cover the shipping. If you are interested just send a PM. I do have the software for the A2, A20, A3, A30 and A35 too, but usually only one version back from current.
