Default A30 Region Free Firmware (non-HD)?

So I thought I had seen this covered, but I cannot find much when searching through past forums.

Is it possible to hack the A30 so it can play Euro dvds also, while maintaining reliability? I have a few dvds in the UK that I want, but don't have a region free player. So, is it possible, with a firmware or some sort of thing?

Thanks.

I don't believe the a30 plays pal or can be made region free yet.You can use a backup program to remove the region coding if you like then take that product and run it thru Nero Vision to make an ntsc movie.
Easier to just buy a $100 player that is pal compatible that can be made region free with a few botton pushes though.

Good question and equally good answer.
I have an Oppo DVD player and even though the Manufacturer didn't say it could be made region-free, I did find a site that listed the remote control code to make the players region-free.
That was awhile back and I don't remember what the site was but I can tell you it worked.
It would be great if someone started a thread devoted just to this type of thing: making DVD players Region-Free.

I'm surprised we haven't seen hacked firmwares pop up yet. I imagine there are quite a few unrealized capabilities, namely the USB ports.

There is a phillips dvd player that I own that you can get for $40, and I did the button hack on it in like 20 seconds after plugging it up, and it plays pal, ntsc, and all my R2 and R3 dvds. I recommend it since it's cheap, reliable, and easy to "fix".
