Default Anyone know where I can get an A30 for decent price?

Lotsa ebay stuff, but most are buy it now's at $160+, etc.. I had seen one auction for one that went to $80 but i was outbid..

Anyways, lookin for a like-new, or lightly used player.. I want one cos im gettin a new TV that does 1080p, so I won't really need my A3 anymore..
I would also like an A35 as well, but those are a LOT more pricey?
Feel free to PM me as well

I have an A20 for sale in my bargain thread. Essentially the same machine, slightly better build quality than the A30, not as much plastic.

My for sale thread here, if you're interested.

did you buy that A20 as new, or refurb? I paid $90/100 for my A3 (that was new)

Bought it new 3 months ago. Only slightly used - less than 100 hours over that time.

I have just received another PM for it as I was offering it to you. Since I offered to you first, I wanted to give you first opportunity for it.

But as I am desperate to sell it, and you are uncertain about purchasing it, I'm going to have to rescind the sale offer to you and accept the other.

I thought these typically go for about $100 on ebay. Amazon has a refurb for $99 which is covered from them for 30 days. Even when the 30 days are up, you have a 90 day warranty from Toshiba. They no longer repair units as it's a replacement program now. Good luck, the A30 is a nice player. I have it on our guestroom now on a 37" 720p LCD and the picture quality is great for both HD DVD and SD upconversion.

Thats about as much as I'm willing to pay $100, also wouldn't hurt to knock off an extra $10/20..

I'm not too thrilled on the refurbs, would rather get like-new, gently used.. I've gotten an A2 refurb and the HDMI ended up not workin... luckily I didn't have to pay for it

You might check uBid, there were several HD-A30's listed. I believe the players are customer returns to stores that accepted returns when the format's demise was announced. The prices seem to end up between $60 and $80 shipped depending on whether or not the customer returned the remote and/or free discs in the box.

It appears to me that either the HD-A20 or HD-A30 are the best values for back ups for the long haul. The HD-A35 and HD-XA2 are selling for surprisingly high prices. I don't know whether the HD-A20 or HD-A30 is the better player, but that might be worth figuring out before you buy. The HD-A20 appears to be better player to me.

Chris

chris gerhard-
+1. the second gen's seem to be the more popular/reliable choice. i hear a lot of people say that they havent run into any playback issues whatsoever.

I've got a pristine condition HD-A20 for sale. Includes everything, even the box (not a refurb). It has played around 10-15 discs. Looking for $100 + minimal shipping.
