Default A-30 Audio Question (ONKYO 605)

I just got an A-30. I've hooked it up to my ONKYO 605 via HDMI. Now on the A-30 Display it's saying "MULTI", which I'm assuming means MULTI-CHANNEL PCM, but my receiver is seeing it as PCM.

I've tried everything, but I can't get the receiver to run in MULTI-CHANNEL PCM, like it does when I'm watching BR Movies via my PS3. Am I doing something wrong, or is getting my receiver to output MULTI-CHANNEL PCM with the A-30 NOT possible..

Thanks

It should be. Our old A2 did it fine.
You might have to make sure the settings are right.
I not close enough to home take a quick look at our settings but the first one that comes to mind is to make sure the A30 is NOT set to bitstream.
I can't remember all of the settings off hand but I think it tries to set itself up with bitstream as default. If it is not that you may need to re-initialize the player.

LOL, I'm not home either... Here's the Audio Settings I saw in the Player Set-up:

OUTPUT SPDIF: Bitstream or PCM
OUTPUT HDMI: PCM or "DownMixed PCM"

I believe I have OUTPUT SPDIF: set to Bitstream & OUTPUT HDMI: Set to PCM.

I updated the firmware to 1.3 & re-initialize the player but no luck. My receiver continued to show PCM on it's dashboard

Yeah, set it to Auto & all should be good. See if you had it set to "DownMixed PCM" - that setting downmixes 5.1 to only 2 channel stereo for receivers / TVs that can't handle multi channel, which of course the 605 can.

OK I tried HD 335 suggestion, but my receiver is saying PCM & not MULTI-CHANNEL PCM like my PS3 does.. I called TOSHIBA & they assured me the player is fine. Maybe It's me.

Really wish someone with a 605 could tell me if it's supposed to say PCM on the receiver with the option to add/change Sound Fields within the receiver or is the 605 supposed say MC-PCM with no option for Sound Fields.

BTW I do hear a difference between DD+ & TRUE-HD. With TRUE-HD sounder much more fuller than DD+

OK, I finally have fixed the problem & everything is working perfectly. I needed to change a setting within the 605 setup menu. Had to change the HDMI-OUT to OFF as it was set to ON. (HARDWARE SETUP) I now have MULTI-CHANNEL PCM displaying on the ONKYO as it should be..

I would like to thank all that replied & tried to help me out. It was truly appreciated
