Did you shut it down and let it reboot or unplug it and start over.

The current firmware for the XA2 is 2.5, not 2.3. If you downloaded over the ethernet connection, did you follow the instructions on Toshiba's web site?

    http://www.tacp.com/tacpassets-image...d2firmware.asp

Firmware 2.5 has added steps to the download process that weren't needed previously.

Also, are you sure there was no disc in the player when you attempted the update?

This sounds like your video output is at too high a frequency for your tv to properly synch to.

Do you have a DVI or HDMI input on the TV? If so, try that. If your TV only has component inputs, I doubt it's really HDTV capable.

You may want to contact Toshiba customer service. I bet they have a way to reduce the output resolution of the device without having access to a monitor to use the UI.

Something similar happened to me, it turned out that I had inadvertently moved the "mode" switch on the front from 2 to 1. I'm no expert but it might be worth a trying moving yours over just to see.

Try using the S-Video or Composite connection to a regular TV. Could be the mode settings are messed up, and it's outputting an incompatible HD signal (24fps?).

That is a major bummer. Did they say what caused it? 2.5 also has a bug with audio synch on 1080p/24. Seems like they rushed this release without enough QA.

That and the more complex install process seems to have caused a few problems.
