this is also perfect timing to help drive down the pricing for current gen players by the holidays

I recommend a Harmony universal remote.

i saw the links this morning and was wondering what do you THINK the difference is b/t the A-30 and the A-50?
the price difference b/t the A-2 and the A-20 was due to 1080p, but both the 30 and the 50 are 1080p. do you think the A-50 is going to be better than the XA-2? |

Amazon routinely puts up future product pages in anticipation of upcoming products. These "best guess" pages are no guarantee of a product actually coming and guarantee nothing. That being said, I still think there is a very good chance that we will see 3rd generation players in October, but the Amazon pages do not guarantee it.

I second that. They should at least support USB and allow wireless cards that are USB to be used on the units. Its 2007, majority households use Wi-fi for LAN not damn Cat5 RJ-45 Ethernet.

Toshiba sets October for third-generation HD DVD players
One retailer told VB that Toshiba plans to offer promotional pricing sporadically in the fourth quarter, which will drop prices to $199 to further drive sales. Toshiba is expected to announce full details at consumer electronics trade show CEDIA next month. |

Toshiba's third generation family starts with the entry-level HD-A3 player featuring 1080i output capability. The other two new models, Toshiba's HD-A30 and HD-A35, will output 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080p). Both models are capable of outputing signals at 1080p/24 frames per second. The HD-A30 and HD-A35 models also feature "CE-Link" (HDMI-CEC). The new flagship model, the HD-A35 also adds support for Deep Color via HDMI. Additionally, the HD-A35 offers 5.1 channel analog output and High Bit Rate Audio (up to 7.1 channel) via HDMI. Toshiba says the new models will cost $299.99 for the HD-A3 $399.99 for the HD-A30 and $499.99 for the HD-A35. The HD-A3m will be available in September, the HD-A30 and HD-A35 in October.
