Toshiba HD-A30 - Any way to quiet fan noise?
Hi folks. I'm certain I'm not the only one bugged by the fan noise in the HD-A30 so I'm wondering if anyone has ever done anything as far as quieting the noise. Replacement? Removal? Does it really need it? Just curious. Thanks.

I've used an A30 for quite some time - currently using an A35 (same basic machine) and have not noticed any disturbing fan noise. I would suggest removing the cover and vacuuming out any dust/dirt etc. and exploring a replacement fan in case the bearings are going south in the fan that is in there? Also be sure it is in a well ventilated area so it runs as cool as possible.

Sorry for replying in such an old topic. The fan in my A-30 started just recently making more noise, coincidentally after I gave it a thorough cleaning. I probably dried up any lubricant that may have been in there since I used some cleaner. I had some engine oil around the house, so I took a toothpick and dipped it in the oil, and then let it drip oil inside the fan housing (you can't disassemble these fans), problem solved.
Yeah, it's the MacGuyver ghetto way of fixing it, but you have to make do with whatever you have available sometimes.
