Damn, I am tempted to pick this up but have been buying too many other movies instead. If they would come down to $80.00 with free shipping I would jump on it.

I wonder howmany copies they have.. the collection went OOS yesturday as I was about to buy it, which gave me a heart attack as I thought I missed out.. and now its back in stock.. still debating on a purchase not knowing if this is the last of their stock or there might be another drop.

.. I was never good at the stock market either, lol.

I just put 99 in my cart and it said "We can not fill this order. Must be fewer than 18." How reliable that is who knows?

I'm also tempted to buy this, but I get this feeling it'll continue to drop in price and there are more available.

Yeah i do that all the time to see howmuch they have in stock, but that doesn't seem to be the full stock.. when they had BSG, I put 999, then said 500 left.. checked a few hours, said 15.. kept refreshing, they were all gone and it went OOS.. and then when they restocked, checked again, and it was more than 500 again..

JMPO, but even $100 isn't worth it to me. That's still a bit more than the BD version costs, and the only one of these movies I really like anyway is Hunt for Red October.

No love for Clear and Present Danger? I had fun with it, even though it's not as good as Hunt for Red October. Of course, I watched it following Patriot Games and before the Sum of all Fears so it may have just seemed better than it was being sandwiched between those two clunkers in the movie marathon I had...

Down to 17 now. Pretty broke right now, so not sure if I can manage it or not.

Is there anything better about the HD over the BD? I am not interested in collector value at all, but I am willing to pay more for extra bonus material, features, better transfer, no commercials, etc.

Other than the fact that these will play in the Samsung UP5000 (maybe other players?) while the Blu-Ray's still can't (at least to my knowledge) that is it. Otherwise, the Blu-Ray's contain the same picture/audio from what I could tell - and include some, however pretty meager, bonus materials. I don't recall commercials being different. If you prefer watching movies on your HD DVD player (I'm looking at all the XA2+HD805 user's out there) or a navigation scheme similar to the Top Gun HD DVD, then this may be a good snag.

I'd say it's a collector, completest, and/or non-neutral user's set. I own Hunt for Red October on Blu-Ray myself, and will eventually get Clear and Present Danger. I don't know if I'll spring for the other two though... maybe when the 5th Jack Ryan film comes out. That being said, if this set came down to $60 or below (never going to happen) I'd even rebuy it. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion - like you, I would definitely enjoy hearing others'.

Default The tide has turned. (I think)

You know, the sentiment about buying these disks has really changed, either we have all spent way too much on movies the last 9 months or so or we we are running out of money or our wives and girl friends have seen our credit car bills and now know why you don't take them out to dinner any more!!

3 or 4 months ago before the blu ray version came out I was all over this, not any more.

I took the $100.00 and put it towards a UP5000 from Samsung, I'll use that to watch all the movies I already own.

The tide has not turned for me just yet. lol
Yea my credit card bill over the last 9 months has went through the roof........., but at least my addiction is and not something really harmful. My girlfriend still to this day doesn't get the whole hi def thing, but I think most females are like this in that regard. Once I hit 300 's I think then the tide will turn for me because I will then have about every on my want list.

The recalled set has special features listed but do not exist on the discs. The corrected sets would simply not list any special features. DCSholtis said he received a corrected version from Amazon when they listed it for $69.99 for a few hours (but AFAIK, he was the only one to actually receive it as everyone else's orders were canceled). If this is the corrected set, then I may buy it myself.
