Thanks for the heads up. I am down in Texas on vacation this week and will be stopping in Fry's tomorrow. I'll let everyone know what they have left.

Does anyone know if it's all the HD DVD's at 7.99? I'm sure it won't be the MI bundle, Matrix bundle but I'm asking if all the regular HD DVD's are $7.99 or just what is listed?

At the San Diego Frys it was not all titles. The guy stocking and changing prices says the $7.99 titles were those that aren't selling.... ones that have been sitting on the shelves for months.
Picked up 4 titles (getting down there in titles that appeal to me): Freedom Writers ($7.99) The Manchurian Candiate ($8.99) Breach ($7.99) The Matador ($6.99) |

Just to let you know, the ad in the L.A. Times flyer only showed six at that $7.99 price:
Transformers Beowulf The Mummy Flags of Our Father Children of Men Troy

They completely moved them from the shelves of the high def section and Blu has taken over those shelves. It was while I was in the DVD box sets section that I noticed they placed a couple rows of the HD DVDs next to them. The rest have been consigned to clearance bins, a table, and one front end rack. I also noticed several covers were in French/English, so obviously they are getting Canadian remainders.

Fry's in Northern California is still capitalizing on HD-DVD sales big-time.
The store I visit has a display of HD-DVD's on the first end-cap as you enter the store (ahead of the blu-ray end-cap). They also have a table set up in the middle of the main aisle with a bunch of hd-dvd titles. In the primary dvd aisles, the HD-DVD section is sandwiched between the 2 Sony formats (UMD to the left, blu-ray to the right) and covers a section about 2/3 the size of the blu-ray section. They usually keep a list pasted on the wall of those titles marked down lower than the prices on the actual stickers. This Fry's keeps getting additional titles in as they keep selling. If you don't see the advertised title you want, ask, because they frequently have boxes of them sitting on top of the shelving aisles which they just haven't put on the shelves yet. This morning's ad listed 10 titles at $7.99. Of course that is in addition to the titles permanently marked down to $7.99 and $9.99. I do not believe anything is over $11.98 except box sets. I'll drop over this afternoon to grab a couple of dollars on a price match for "Face/Off" - and then spend it plus more I am sure . . . . I always enjoy folks perusing the blu-ray titles looking at sale prices at least twice what the hd-dvd prices are and scratching their heads . . . ![]()

At my nearest Frys they have a table at the beginning of the line entry area as well as one near the SD DVDs. They have a lot of them, so they are still on shelves where the BDs are as well, as it doesn't look like people are buying them, such as me. Waiting for them to go on fire sale. There are still certain titles that are selling for full price in-store, such as the various volumes of the animated series Freedom.

I was at the Webster, TX Fry's today and they have literally hundreds of HD DVD's in stock. Alot of them have both English/French on the cover and back. Looks like they got a ton of left over stock that was sitting in Canada.
It was the largest HD DVD display that I have seen ever. Before you even walk into the store they have a table set up and two rotating displays for HD DVD. Then when you walk in there is a huge two sided display at the front of the store full of movies with about ten boxes under it with about fifty movies per box. In the Hi Def section the HD DVD display is still just as big as the Blu-ray section. There were also about five more full boxes on the bottom shelf of one of the DVD aisles with around fifty movies per box. The prices were all over the place but nothing too expensive. All movies were in the $6.99 - $14.99 range except for the Mission Impossible trilogy at $24.99 and Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise at $47.99. If I wasn't so broke from this being my last day on vacation I could have spent all day there picking out movies but I did end up with:Disturbia - $8.99 Zodiac - $11.99 The Cowboys - $8.99 Michael Clayton - $7.99 Mission Impossible 3 - $8.99 Have fun shopping everyone. ![]()
