Default HD-DVD mega sale HMV UK

HMV.co.uk are selling HD-DVDs really cheap.

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/specialOffers....rom+%C2%A32.99

We are talking decent discs for cheap here. 300 (non combo as well) for just £4.49 and free postage for UK customers. V for Vendetta is £2.99, American Gangster £2.99 and Superman Returns (again non combo) is £3.49.

I have picked up about 11 discs though this offer and am about 3 discs short of buying every film I ever wanted that came out on HD-DVD saving me a fortune on future BD releases.

Some good deals there for sure. Anyone know if they ship to Canada? If so, how much? I'm too lazy to try to create an account...

Forget it. I created an account and they want 40 pounds for shipping to Canada. As if. Any UK friends want to hook me up?

It's a real shame that mega-retailer like HMV charges GBP 4.50 PER DISC when hut.com charges GBP 1.00, otherwise I'd be all over this sale.

i see no hd dvd for £1 on the hut, the cheapest I found was £3.93. I though everyone knew about the hmv sales anyway. that reminds me, I need to pick up some more hd dvd next week from hmv.co.uk

Yep, I noticed some nice deals when I bought Torchwood from them last week for £12.99 + £4.50 shipping which was a fantastic deal. They also had Battlestar Galactica for the same price but those sold out even faster than Torchwood. £17.99 for the 5 disc Planet Earth seems like a good deal. But since I live in the US, the £4.50 per item kills it for me. Great deal for folks in the UK though!

By the way, is Bleak House for roughly $26 shipped worth it and a good deal?

To mcblob: yes, I meant shipping.

To HD 335: Bleak House is worth getting. Great adaptation and the series runs nearly 8 hrs. over the course of 15 episodes.

That's a pretty good price for Bleak House. I have it, but I haven't watched the entire series yet. If you like period, character-driven drama, I'd say check it out. It's well-acted and scripted IMO. It also features Gillian Anderson if that floats your boat. If you're looking for action and/or comedy, you'd probably want to stay away.

Bleak House is definitely worth buying. I think the least expensive way to get it is from dvd.co.uk where it is about £8. It is also in a 2 for £15 sale on that site so you can save another dollar if there is a second title you want as well.

I'm interested all in sorts of series but this would mainly be for my wife. As long as the script, acting, cinematography and PQ are good... we're sold. I read it has a 1.5mbps LPCM 2 channel stereo audtio track only, but since it's a dialogue driven series it shouldn't matter too much.

Thanks for reminding me to check dvd.co.uk, I'll see if I can add a couple other titles.

£3 = almost $6 US plus shipping. That's an okay deal for the few titles we can't get here in the US. (None of those are in the sale!) However, $9.99+tax at Fry's is instant with easy returns for any bad disc.

I did the same thing for my wife. I bought 4 from dvd.co.uk when they were all part of the 2 for 15 pounds thing: Bleak House, Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sun and Becoming Jane (I threw in Terminator 2 for myself!).
