Default New Fry's ad 8/1 - Over 200 HD DVDs for $9.99 each

I don't have a link but I am sure somebody does. For those of you who want HD DVD, it may be the last chance at Fry's. Today's Los Angeles Times flyer says "Over 200 HD DVDs available" and "Your Choice" "$9.99"

Is this online also? Some of the movies in this ad are not $9.99 on the website, they are going for $11.99 (Dreamgirls, Into the Wild, Blades of Glory, Beowulf, the Heartbreak Kid). From what I see on the website, they do not have over 200 HD DVD to choose from for $9.99.

Have you ever been in a Frys? Unlike other retailers, the selection in the store is generally better than their website. The stores are massive and selection of most things extensive.

I don't know if it will be online. You will probably have to go over to a Fry's store.

I dropped in the one in Burbank on my way to work this morning and they are definitely having a mass dumping. They have the titles in the regular HD DVD racks next to the Blus. Then they have an end-row display of them, plus near that two or three full bins of them dumped in there (the kind of bins that they use for $1 public domain stuff), plus a full table near the checkout area. Oddly enough, there are still some titles they are selling higher; for example, "Reds" is still at $11. I asked the saleswoman there if Fry's was getting all of them out and she said yes, though she was surprised that they still had them this late and they keep getting more in. Most titles seem to be in heavy quantity but some HD DVD titles have been discontinued I found out and none of the Fry's stores have them, apparently (Elizabeth: the Golden Age and Mutiny on the Bounty were two I asked about). (It was easy to ask questions because nobody else was in the HD DVD area.)

That must have left you with a warm feeling (sorry, couldn't resist).

Thanks for the notice, though. Only things I would likely buy now are higher-rated exclusives.

In store, ALL titles are definitely $9.99. I thought it was just the ones pictured in the add. They even had one copy of Hot Fuzz from $19.99 to $9.99. I don't think these will get much cheaper in retail stores, but I can be wrong.

Thanks for the report. Did you see anything unusual like Bonnie and Clyde or Twister?

No, now that you mention, I didn't. I did scan through the titles on the shelves but don't recall them. If they do, you will find it in the stores, I am sure. There were so many bins filled with titles and so many dupes of each one. However, if you don't see it on the shelves first, ask a salesclerk to check the computer stock first before going any further because that will tell amounts available in each store. I looked for a couple of WB titles and they didn't have them in any store.

Also, just to let everyone know, the boxsets are not marked down any.

Went to Frys today. Every single HD-DVD that wasnt Planet Earth was priced $7.99 to $11.99. They were in binds and on a section of shelving away from the blurays where they had always been.

When I went to the register today (in Phoenix) One of the titles in the $9.99 bin (Borne Supremesy) rang up at $14.99. They would NOT honor the price despite muluple copies in the Bin.
