Default Shipping charges.. (Input needed)

Hi All,

I'm working on a little page that has the main retailers of DVD/HDDVDs like www.inetvideo.com, amazon, etc. with some reviews.

I'm working on compairing their shipping charges with the other major retailers to see how they rank..

Also, since you guys order alot of DVDs online. What do YOU think is an idle charge that you would be happy paying to have your them shipped?

Please help provide feedback so we can help each other with our collections and online shopping

What I need:
1) Major retailers you've dealt with and howmuch they charges for shipping (non-sales)
2) Howmuch you think is fair to pay for shipping.

Thanks,

Free shipping for orders over $25.00 like amazon works for me.

You really have to factor in the price of the DVD or HD-DVD when comparing the shipping prices.

Cheap shipping on an overpriced title might make for a bad deal overall.

Of course, iNetvideos recent $5.99 per title promotion with free shipping was about as good an overall deal as I've seen.

Hopefully they can repeat that promotion with a new batch of titles.

And, like Mean Gene, I also like Amazon's free shipping for orders over $25.

Deepdiscount's free shipping with no minimum order is another good one.

I can ship a movie for $1.50 myself. Additional movies costs maybe $.75 more. It should be this or lower.

I should not have to pay for the mailer or anything. That should be figured into the price.

While I'm totally on the boat for free shipping, having to wait two weeks totally negates the deal for me. I personally would rather pay a couple of bucks to get my movie faster. Deepdiscount is a great example, while 10-day shipping is free, i'd rather pay the $5and get it in 3-5 days.

What!! Not even remotely funny; this is definitely bargain related as the OP is trying to put together a shipping deals thread.

ROFL! I thought the first post was funny, however, this one made the first even funnier . I know it wasn't meant to, but for me it did.

Shipping, I think shipping really should just be comparable to the average consumers shipping. If I can ship something for $3.00 or $5.00 then as long as it's close to that, then it should be acceptable to anyone who orders online.

Amazon.com - Prime member here so 2 day shipping is "free"

Amazon.fr - Shipping prices are ridiculous and just get worse from there

Amazon.de - Probably the best "deal" in shipping as it is flat rate no matter how many discs you order. Sucks if you need 1

Amazon.jp - Kannisto would have to tell you as I get him to order all my discs

Amazon.uk - Shipping is pretty fair except that the British Pound has a crappy exchange rate

dvd.co.uk - very good shipping prices (usually 1-2 pounds per disc)

thehut.com - This is the weirdest place to order from . They charge 1 pound shipping and then send every one of your discs to you seperate

dvdgo.com - Probably the most expensive place I have found to order from (and the biggest pita). Decent pricing on discs until you factor in the shipping that starts at about $35 for 1 disc.. It is amazingly fast shipping however

Dvd.it - Shipping is pretty high from these folks if I recall correctly but the worst thing is their prices. All the italian discs seem to be pricy and it appears to be a complete crapshoot if they actually have them in stock or if they were even made

bol.com - Nice deal with flat rate shipping (if you need multiple discs) but they are VERY slow and I have yet to ever get a complete order from them. Seems a lot of folks have problems with order cancellations for no reason as well

exploitedcinema.com - Very reasonable shipping rates, discs arrive quickly and packed well. Shipping seems to be pretty much the actual cost of USPS

Secondspin.com - Pretty crappy pricing overall but frequently have a free shipping coupon. Free shipping took about a week both times I ordered from them

DeepDiscount - Ordered one disc one time and never again. Free shipping that apparently they ship out via Pony Express which unfortunatly was shut down in the 1800s...

Bestbuy.com/CircuitCity - Both have atrocious shipping unless the are running free shipping. Discs seem to arrive reasonably quickly however

Ebay - Watch it carefully and it can be a great deal.. Don't pay attention and shipping will rape you a new one

Buy.com - Free shipping on $25 or more..if you can actually get them to ship the product it normally doesn't take too long. Customer service is nonexistant

speaking of which, hmv.com has an awesome deal on some good movies - 2.99(pounds)/disc. Thing is, overseas shipping is 4.50 a disc, so to an American - a $6 movie with $9 shipping. Outrageous.

I think TheHut.com has recently raised their shipping rate to £1.59 per disc.
