Default New HD DVDs $9.98 at Half Price Books

The Half Price Books on South Lamar in Austin, Texas has new, shrink-wrapped copies of upwards of a dozen HD DVD titles. No UPC slashes or other damage.

All are from Canada, with titles listed in French and English but otherwise identical to U.S. editions. All were priced at $9.98 or $7.98. They're new to the shelves -- no sign of them when I was there last week.

I didn't write all the titles down, but here's what I remember:

- The Bourne Ultimatum
- King Kong
- The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
- Dazed and Confused
- The Breakfast Club
- Serenity
- Sleepy Hollow
- Children of Men

... and that's all I remember. I bought one copy of The Bourne Ultimatum (for $6.99 after 30% off coupon!), leaving 3 still on the shelf last night. There were 2 to 3 copies of most titles listed above.

Unfortunately our local "half-price books" store has no new hd-dvd titles at this time - but I picked up a few at Fry's - and they are obviously Canadian titles being sold here at reduced prices ($9.99) as they include both english and french text. As long as they work - I am happy.

I could care about bilingual packaging. Just custom cover it. The end.

People say believe half of what you see,

That's all fine and dandy for you Southies. Those are still $11.98 at Fry's except King Kong. I snagged it and Children of Men for $9.98.

Where did you get the 30% off coupon?

May have to check the local half price. Were the HD-DVDs just in a section near the DVDs.

I go there abount once per month to look fo some laserdiscs as they have them for a few bucks most of the time.

They were just intermixed with all the other used and new DVDs.

The Half Price Books that I go to (Coon Rapids, MN) has their HD-DVDs and Blurays seperated from their DVDs. Most titles are $9.98 at mine except for The Mummy which is $7.98. An employee I talked to mentioned that they are hoping to get more in stock soon in terms of both amount of copies and variety of titles.

Nice. I wish my store would separate the disc types. As it is now, it's easy to accidentally skip over an HD DVD or Blu-ray while scanning the shelves.

FYI.The Twin Cities stores (CR and Roseville) have the hi-def movies on the bottom shelfs below the regular dvd's.If they are mixed, just look for the smaller hi-def cases.Try to look every week.Usually use $5 off $20 purchase coupon to buy movies.Google Half-Price Books for coupons.

thats what i mean.. inetvideo.com is selling these HD DVDs for cheaper than if you were to rent. Who cares if the covers are bilingual? At these prices, it's a steak even if they have no covers :P

You didn't notice which store I mentioned in my previous post now did ya?

Thanks for the heads up on the coupons however. I got a few coupons from their yearly calendar as well. Might have to stop by in the next day or two to see what I can get my hands on.
