Post $5 HD-DVD's at Walmart!

This is somewhat good info for those who have a player. Looks like Walmart is burning off all their HDDVD stock.

I was at my local Walmart (I'm in Canada) last-night looking in the HD section when I noticed the small HDDVD shelve was even smaller. When I looked all the movies they were marked down to $5.00!! I think the players were marked down also but there were none left (they still make for a good DVD and upscaler players).

Just FYI.

Really? The last time I checked they said they sent all of their HD DVD's back. Haven't seen any for months now.

What titles did you see?

Yeah they were gone for a while but I guess some were brought back. The titles I can remember were:

Oceans Thirteen
A Scanner Darkly
Phantom of the Opera
Deep Purple (music disc)
Dog Day Afternoon

There were atleast 3-4 titles there aswell.

A lot of the Walmarts don't even have any HD discs anymore. Just tried 3 here in Ontario and there was nada.

This might be a Canada only deal. The three local Wal-Marts in my area haven't stocked HD-DVDs for a couple of months now. (I'm in the US.)

Good luck to my friends north of the border!

I heard a rumour over at RFD that they're expecting HD DVD shippers next week marked 2/$10 (or $5 each)... fingers crossed

I'm in Toronto, and have noticed that Walmart's HDDVD shelves dissappeared about 2 months ago. This is the Woodbridge and Markville mall locations.

If they somehow restock, i'd definitely would like to see the selection, but I'll bet it's gonna be crappy leftovers no one wants to buy (including myself), or that it'll all be gone by the time i get to the store (typical walmart cheap item craze non-sense).

Their online prices are crazy. I hope this sale, if it happens, will be online.

I have not seen any in about 2 months now.... including stores in Newmarket, Barrie, Collingwood, & Vaughan, Ontario.

Probably a Newfoundland only thing.

I'm guessing if they come back to most Walmarts as a 2 for $10 deal, they will be in a bin, just like their $5 DVDs are in a bin.

I don't even go into wal-mart. Can't stand the place. Even if it's not online, I still don't want em. Last time I wanted a Blu-Ray at their "special wal-mart price" I had to order it online, and have it shipped to me or the store. Stupid thing was, they had a bunch sitting on the shelf that they would'nt sell to me at the "online" price. They actually wanted to ship ANOTHER copy to their store for me. Talk about a waste of time and resources. I'll never do business with wal-mart again.
