I own the US BBC 4 Disc... but am considering selling it to grab a 5 Disc set.

Good price. I paid about $70 for it when it first came out. Considering buying this for my father, but I'm not sure if he'll appreciate me buying him the "dead" format...he'll probably just say that he loves my brother more...again.

What is the difference between this one and the 4 disc BBC version? What's on the 5th disc that makes it worth the purchase?

I imagine it's the same content as the fifth disc in the SD DVD set; A bonus documentary that basically focuses on wildlife conservation and protection.

kch, apparently there is some stunning footage of rare snowleopards and some other content, on disc 5. I just got my 5 disc-can't wait to watch it! (I had 4 disc, and because of the price and my love of big cats decided to get this one).

Oh damn, I actually really like big cats too. Hmmmmm, well that's a thinker for me. I guess if I can sell my 4 disc BBC for the same price, I will hit this one. Thanks for letting me know it wasn't just a preach fest, I'm not against messages but I just want a little more if I am going to go through the hastle of selling mine then purchasing this one.

I've been waiting for the right price. But the recent Amazon and DD price increase to $63 made me a tad angry. Glad this deal rolled around. $30.83 shipped is a great price. I was going to buy the 4 disc BBC used for $40. Great deal.

Just got my PE. Just found out that it's only 1080i, and even though it's 5 disc, only 550 minutes. Is there a better version that I didnt get? I was nder the impression that it was 1080p, some 680 mins. I've also noticed, just now, the grain factor is a little high. Higher than I like.

1) the 550 is only for the main feature; IE, the first 4 discs

2) They're all 1080i. Theres a thread on it over @ AVS where a BBC rep was contacted and confirmed the US BBC release and the UK (and the Discovery for that matter) are ALL 1080i and were incorrectly labeled on the US side. These are identical to the US release.
