Looks like it's a big news day for HD DVD here on High Def Digest. Any plans to post news about Panasonic's or Matsushita's Blu-ray recorders? Google news'd "blu-ray" this morning and found several links.

Will concede this is a very good deal for those prepared to place a bet on the HD DVD format. That's a lot of movies. Do you have to pick from a list, or is the entire catalogue open for some of the picks?

The in store HD DVDs are any standard HD DVD, this excludes TV and Box sets. The other 5 are from the previous deal which has been extended yet again.

Default Man :(

Im thinking about that one. I just got a 1080p TV (Upgraded from 1080i TV) and now I may sale my HD-A2 1080i player with 4 year warranty and get the 1080p Player with 9 free movies. I love HD-DVD. The only reason I have Blu Ray is because they wont release those particular films on HD-DVD. They like to act like I as a consumer are truely wanting Blu Ray, but I am not. Its the movie in HD I want and its only on BD so I am forced to buy BD. Enough ranting. Get this machine!!!!

From looking at this article from the UK - you guys are so lucky. I want to import a US HD-DVD player but the costs/customs are too high

This the day after Samsung delay their new BD players

Ironically, as a BD supporter, I feel the same about Universal with HD-DVD. Thankfully, I can enjoy lots of HD movies I want from Fox, Sony, Lionsgate, Disney, Buena Vista, etc.. and not feel bad about my BD support as a consumer. But I will tell you that for the right price, I will buy a used HDDVD player. So if you are looking to unload that A2. I think, minus all 9 movies (about $200) with the new player deal, I would pay about $75 for it.

Rumor has it that HD-DVD camp is working on another promotion in which when you buy an HD-DVD player, you get 50 free movies, 3 free actors, 2 actresses, 2 stunt-men, your choice of director, and any country of your choice to film your own movie.

Note to dighdefdigest: The A3 is $299. The A30 is $399. You got at least one thing wrong in your blurb.
