Nope. I can unplug all my peripherals and then reformat my hard drive. When I'm done I can plug them in again and not have to install ANYTHING, unless it's a specialized prodict like a professional audio card for recording, etc. But all printers, mice, keyboards, cameras, Mp3 players, etc that I have hooked into my usb ports have worked automatically with Windows default drivers, I've never had to put in a vast majority of my driver Cd's. So again, Mac's claims are BS.

Lol u still have to install the drivers, When u reformat, u have to install drivers...PERIOD. Mice and keyboards and monitor ur fine. But even if the driver is available through windows, you STILL have to install them. Like i said before, me computer professional, u movie editing pro. BTW that what i said before about that, i was just kidding around then too. But seriously, macs aren't off, just that most people dont fully understand what they are referring to.

I use Premiere (Production Premium CS3) with Cineform Aspect.

I like the Cineform intermediate workflow.

With Encore CS3 I have been authoring BDMV movies on Blu ray with menus and scene selections. The Blu ray authoring puts it ahead of most other products out there, even though it is first generation. (I have been frustrated with the lack of subtitle support in Blu ray authoring)

The tight integration between Encore and Photoshop is very nice when editing menus.

My friend is a video editing professional and he only uses Avid.

For amature stuff I would probably go with Adobe Premiere.

You can't author Blu-ray with Avid or Final Cut Pro.

I think Avid is losing market share to FCP as FCP is being used for more major motion pictures.

No Country for Old Men was edited with FCP.

Um... Cant author blu with FCP? How do you figure? You can edit 720p, 1080i, and 1080p in Final Cut. The latest version of Compressor allows the creation of renders that will work on a BRD. You could put all of your files onto a drive and run it to a company capable of pressing your brds for you.

Thumbs up It works

Warin is EXACTLY right.

Final Cut Studio 2 (a bundle which includes FCP 6, Compressor 3, Color, DVD Studio Pro 4, Motion 3, & Soundtrack Pro 2) does it all.

I AM, though, waiting for Apple to release an operating system with high-def support - BD playback, etc.

you mean an APP, not operating system... DVD Player can playback DVDSP authored HD but does not support BD-J or even HDi yet. It will arrive once DVDSP offer BD authoring. Doubt it will ever support HDi unless Toshiba really does introduce DVD 2.0 to the world.

I think that he is referring to the fact that FCP Studio gives you a complete workflow for DVD, from importing the footage, editing, color correcting, audio design, disc design (menus, chapters, subtitles, etc.) and ability to burn the completed product using the various studio programs. It will let you do most everything required for a Blu-Ray video, but you can't actually output it to a disc from within the FCP environment. Hopefully the Mac Pro refresh (which should come later in the year) will give us the necessary hardware (a Bly-Ray burner), while I would imagine the next version of FCP Studio will support the disc creation aspect (hopefully supporting PIP, interactive menus, and all the other goodies).

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 which I got with the Master Collection. You can output to Blu-ray and it now comes with Adobe Encore to make snazzy menus. There is a really good feature in Encore now where you can create and export a Blu-ray movie disk and then export a DVD of the same project afterwards if you wish thereby saving you the trouble of having to do it all over again to make a DVD version.

I mostly use Vegas 8 then import it into After Affects CS3. I also have FCP which I use for real life events, school, or projects. I use Vegas and AAE for gaming montages.
