They are BD-R's so I would assume they are 25 gigs.

I was wondering the same, is there any dual layer BD-Rs yet? If so, I bet they are pricey. DL DVD still isn't particularly cheap, especially in comparison to single layer. At least with BD I have pride in actually owning a title once more, something DVD never gave me, but laserdisc did. I think it was due to the fact that many laserdiscs I have outdo their DVD counterparts and compression was always obvious to me. In any case, I'd like to think people with Blu-ray care enough about movies and quality to not shrink a movie to fit it onto a single layer (defeating half the purpose, it might be 1080p, but if you want a lower bitrate just get Vudu or DirecTV). I see writable Blu-ray being used a lot more for resourcefulness than for piracy, at least I hope that is the case. Not so sure about things like PS3 games though, but I think movies are safe, at least until dual layer burners come out. I'll still opt for owning movies. There's a pride to owning a reference quality copy of a movie to me.

BD-R DL's can be had on ebay for around $9.70 a disc if you buy 10 or 20 at a time. All name brands, TDK, Sony, etc, direct from Japan. Still a bit pricey to burn movies onto, especially now that there are quite a few movies you can buy for $7 to $13 on Amazon. All BD movies coming out now are on dual layer discs, so the single layer is pretty useless for this application.

Once people can pirate blu-rays and there's no incentive to make them anymore, you can really kiss the film industry goodbye. Thank God for new and improved ways to steal.

Just because Blu-Rays come out on Dual Layer discs doesn't mean the whole 50GB is used (and it certainly isn't just the movie). I've seen discs that are ~28GB including menus and extras. Plus, most of these have 7 different audio tracks, so burning to a single layer disc isn't exactly "defeating half the purpose." On the other hand, $200 for 25 discs is too high. You can buy singles, with jewel case for ~4.00ea.

I'd like to burn copies of my blu's just to get rid of all the shit java and stuff so they would work properly/load faster. Keep just the vid and best audio and I'm happy as a clam! ( not up on how you go around burning bd's, so plz excuse any errors/general stupidity in my statement)
