Default Hd Dvd

Starting immediately HD Addicts will not be restocking older titles in HD DVD. Once we sell out of a title, it will be removed from the site. Many titles have already been pulled. Wal-mart has now announced it will carry only Blu-ray players by this summer, which is yet another blow. Blu-ray is basically picking HD DVD apart, and the HD DVD camp seems to be willing to let it happen. Lack of release announcments etc. I personally prefer HD DVD, but the lack of action from Toshiba, Microsoft, Universal is causing us to begin our transition to a Blu-ray majority in stock and sales. Toshiba can't just keep cutting player costs and hope for the best. We will continue to bring in new titles such as the newly arrived American Gangster or other big releases, but I have to tell you were not seeing too many BIG titles in the HD DVD future. Thanks

More titles are going into the "Clearance" section this weekend as well.

This weekend's HD and BD clearance has ended, with luke warm results on the HD DVD side. Which is completely understandable given the formats current tedious state. So as mentioned in the original post we have begun our transition away from a 50/50 split between the formats. About 44% of our HD DVD stock has already been pulled and removed from the site. I really had hoped Toshiba and its supporters would have pulled some kind of comeback, but it looks unlikely. Our studio reps won't even give us a decent answer on the current lack of action. We will continue to stock any NEW HD DVD titles as well as all the big releases such as Transformers, Beowulf, Batman Begins, American Gangster, Heroes etc. Thanks

Just wanted to add that our Import titles have been one of our most popular products, and we will continue fully supporting them. We're revamping that area now (hence why alot of titles are missing), and look for alot of new import titles on both formats in March.

Well I'm glad we started preparing for this last week I would like to pose a question though.

Are you jumping ship on the HD DVD format? Even if you have a decent size collection? I'm amazed at how many people are. On a personal level, I have a huge HDDVD collection and plan to go buy a dual format or new HD DVD player in the next 2 weeks. I won't be replacing my HD titles on BD. Why? I just want to make sure I'm not stuck with the Xbox addon in the coming years as they prep a new console which will make this HD DVD player obsolete. I say keep and enjoy your HD DVD collection, and just start a new Blu-ray library over the next few months when you can buy a player. The market is going to be so flooded with HD DVD from people jumping ship that the players and movies will be worthless. I enjoy and have more respect for the format to sell it for nothing. I already have a large Blu-ray collection but will enjoy Beowulf and Bee Movie on HD DVD. Hopefully they still come out

I'm definetly not selling my player/collection. I don't see the point of trying to sell everything and start over again with only Blu-ray...I will eventually get a Blu-ray player (probably a PS3 or the new Panasonic).

Exactly. Some people have the impression that Transformers and Bourne Ultimatum will be on Blu-ray in 2 weeks time. This is going to be a slow transition.

Yupp, exactly...I'm actually looking forward to picking up some hopefully cheap HD DVDs that I don't own. Once I own all of those discs, then I will purchase a Blu-ray player.

What is your plan with your stores HD DVDs? Are you able to send them back to your supliers or will you have to get rid of them?

We can return anything we want, but I don't want to totally cut out HD DVD. We will gradually phase it out over 2008, but hope to keep imports as long as someone is making them.

I will not be replacing and agree on the slow transition, i just hope there are enough blu-ray pressing plants now because i remember lots of delays on movies due to shortages of printing plants.

I know.....it's going to be scary. Blu-ray has barely been able to keep up and was late on everything last Christmas. Now add Universal, Paramount and more Warners...........it could be nasty.
