Default DRAG ME TO HELL vs ORPHAN

These two arent really related the way all my polls usually have some link or common theme...etc But, they are both new to Blu-ray, and they are both horror movies. I was surprised that I enjoyed each of them!

The funny thing is, I think ORPHAN was a better movie, but DRAG ME TO HELL has better REPLAY VALUE... so I dont know how to vote.

Which do you prefer if you could only buy one?

I've never seen Orphan, but after my recent experience with Drag Me to Hell, it has to be better. DMTH was by far one of the worst movies I've seen in recent years...

Drag me to hell was weak shit. Orphan was a much better film. Better characters, a decent plot and some actual intense scenes. DMTH was weak sauce, lacked any good scares it features gross out which isn't scary at all and was just too silly to enjoy 99 percent of the film. Sure the ending to orphan can be called that but that is just the ending.

DMTH was a really entertaining goofy-as-hell horror/comedy in the vein of Evil Dead.

Orphan was a thriller that pretends to be a horror flick from time to time.

Both were enjoyable, DMTH is more re-watchable due to its runtime and how light it is. Orphan simply turned out a lot, lot better than I anticipated.

Since DMTH can be interpreted as an anorexia parable I'll say that one is the better of the two ... that and I didn't like the extended finale for Orphan.

Still, both were really enjoyable in their own ways. I think both will find legs on the home video market too.

Just finished watching Orphan. It takes a while to get going, as they try to develop the background of the characters. The last 1/2 hour though is the best part of the movie. I knew there was a twist, but I didn't see it coming.

DMTH falls more under the horror genre though than Orphan does. There is a mysticism in DMTH that Orphan doesn't have. I would characterize Orphan more under the suspense/thriller genre rather than horror in which it is bundled. This is a tough one, but I think DMTH is the better of the two. The ending in DMTH is really no surprise, but the way it happens is a shock IMO.

Orphan is better, IMO, because the characters and the performances in the film by every single actor on screen, including the kids, blow the other actors in DTMH like a tsunami! Not only that but it's more scary, has a better sense of dark humor, is very nerve-racking at times, and is told simply better. DTMH had scares that got old after a couple of minutes, had a bland sense of (gross-out) humor, average performances, and an OK story.

And I'm surprised Orphan took the lead, because on Metacritic:

DRAG ME TO HELL got an 83
ORPHAN got a 42

on Rotten Tomatoes:

DRAG ME TO HELL got a 92
ORPHAN got a 55

i liked both of these movies. loved the over the top evil dead type gore of drag me. loved the twist of the story on orphan.

but i love that cute little girl Max in the movie. if i was to have a daughter ever, that's what i want her to look like. that little girl was so cute.

anyways....

Arrow One is a humoristic horror movie & the other one is...

I've got to see Orphan yet, then I can vote.

* But, being two different genres, is it a fair comparison?

))) Wow! That's a lot of posts from the poster just above. Chapeau sir!
