Default Warning... About Amazon.com Long Story Very Happy Customer!

Hello i am new to these forums but not this site i love it so much. But getting to the issue at hand i am a supporter of amazon.com and i love ordering from there i have spent hundred of dollars on different items i am even a prime member. The other day i ordered the 12.99 Starship Troopers Blu-ray used my 2 day air prime membership to get it here i got the disc yesterday everything looked good when i opened the box nothing looked wrong. i proceeded to look at the disc and at the bottom where the security label was it look liked it had been cut open with a razor blade but i didn't really throw an red flags up. Then i noticed the disc was just freely moving around inside so i decided to open the plastic so i could try to save my brand new bluray from having some scuff marks on it as soon as i opened the package i saw the art work on the disc and it looked terrible i was thinking to myself this can't be that cheap i proceeded to look at the bottom of the disc and it was clear i was like this isn't right so i proceeded to put it in my computer and turns out it was a blank disc someone scammed amazon.com and me. i called customer service i talked to this guy in India and made him aware of what was going on. This is the best part and why i love amazon.com so much he refunded me the 12.99 and gave me free overnight shipping on a new disc. The disc i ordered came from KY this new one is coming from DE. I have never had this happen to me before and i love their service they made it right and i am one happy customer...

Well they will not let me post a image of the fraud i got but just be aware of things when you get a package in the mail!

Yes, Amazon.com is the best. Thats part of the reason why I order EVERYTHING from them. I order about 10-20 Blu Rays a month from them, and I rarely have a problem...but when I do, they fix it right away.

Yesterday, was a good example of this. I ordered a new Clerks 2 Blu-ray, it came in the mail, and when I opened the package it looked like somebody had stepped on or ran over the Blu-ray. The case was so bad that it was "U-shaped." I could practically put chips and salsa in it and use it as a bowl. I called customer service, and within 10 minutes they had a new copy coming to me over night for free. They have the best customer service IMHO.

and just think, you now have a free blank case to use, too!

that's great news, and considering how uncool it sounds of someone to do that w/ a bad disc swap, it's a good thing they took care of you as many retailers would say "you switched it already. sorry"

Yea they are the best. I could not say anything bad about them. I see why they do so good and are one of the number one internet company's! I just hope they catch the low down dirty crooks! I wasn't as mad as i was disappointed when i got it in the mail.

I can find a couple reasons why Amazon is not the best.

1) They don't price adjust within 30 days of a purchase. Their prices change as frequently as the price of gas. So you purchase an item, and the day after your purchase your item, it goes on sale by 50%. You're basically SOL.

2) They hold your order, even if it is in stock, because you chose the free super saver shipping option. Basically, they penalize you with a lengthy wait, b/c you didn't want to choose Prime or pay for shipping.

I have purchased from other vendors who offer free shipping, who ship out your purchase within a day. They also claim to ship the items when they are "available". To me, available is "in stock", and not when Amazon decides to ship my order out.

Other than that, I like their prices, and not having to pay tax. Amazon will lose their competitive advantage though, as prices of BD's are falling, and there are plenty of other options to purchase blu's.

I'm not quite sure how their price adjustment policy works. However, I pre-order between 10-20 Blu-Rays from them each month and after they ship I'm CONSTANTLY getting e-mails saying that they refunded me money on my purchases because the price went down after I pre-ordered it.

I don't think they will lose their competitive edge either, because NO TAX is still NO TAX...you're still SAVING MONEY by ordering from Amazon.

All this being said, I have Amazon Prime and an Amazon.com Visa card...so I always get free shipping and $25 Amazon Gift cards up the ass for ordering from them. So, maybe my experience with them is a bit different. Paying $80+ for Prime seems like a lot...but if you order from them as often as I do, you're going to pay way more than $80 in shipping...unless you choose that slow ass Super Saver shit.

Well look at it this way i just ordered a new hp printer from them i got the next best model them then buying it at the local big box store shipped over night for 3.99 with my prime considering that it weighs 25lbs and i saved 10.00 so big box store about 165 with tax amazon.com 155.00 overnight and next best model.. i love them and will continue to buy from them.. if i have any problems they have always refunded my money sure it sucks they stopped the if the price goes down in the next 30 days we will refund the difference. but i am not so much worried about saving 2.00 if the price drops in 2 days from now. i bought a drill from them a few years back cost 399.99 at lowes got it from amazon.com for 299.99 and free shipping

On 10/08, I emailed Amazon customer service to ask them why my Harmony One wasn't shipping, as it was in stock. I placed the order on 10/06. This is all I sent them:

Quote:
COMMENTS: This item is in stock, why isn't it available to ship?
This was the reply I received:

Hello from Amazon.com.

I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

When you choose FREE Super Saver Shipping on an order, you're letting us know you are willing to wait a little longer to get your items as long as the shipping is free. Most Free Super Saver Shipping orders will ship out within 5 business days of placing an order.

This information is listed at:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...d=540842&#when

However, we're preparing your order for shipment, and we still expect to ship it in time for delivery by October 20, 2009 - October 26, 2009. We'll send you an e-mail confirmation when your order has shipped.

I checked the details of order #xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx, and I see the shipping method is Super Saver Shipping. This option is for customers who are willing to wait a little longer to receive their items in exchange for free shipping. We ship your order in the most cost-efficient way possible, enabling us to pass the savings on to you in the form of free shipping. Once your items are available, your order will be delivered within 5 to 9 business days.

Full details of Super Saver Shipping are listed here:

http://www.amazon.com/supersavershipping

If you don't receive a shipping confirmation e-mail by October 9, 2009, please contact us again (www.amazon.com/contact-us) to let us know.

I hope this information helps clear up any misunderstanding. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:

Please note: this e-mail was sent from an address that cannot accept incoming e-mail.

Best regards,

I questioned them further on this, and a few emails were exchanged. Check the fine print now on their free super saver shipping policy. Instead of what you see bolded above, it now reads "Once your items ship, your order will be delivered within 5-9 business days."

I know shipping is free so I can't complain too much, but their policy was deceptive, and now it appears it has changed. I'd like to think I had something to do with that.

If you're pre-ordering, you will get a price adjustment. That is only for pre-orders though. For anything else, even if you contact them a day after they charge you, they won't adjust the price. You can find many good deals on blu's outside of amazon, not have to pay $80 a year to get expedited shipping, nor do you have to open up a line of credit to get rewards towards your purchases.

Yes - I wouldn't 'complain' too much - international customers such as myself are shafted with NO free shipping - and its $4.99 per shipment and $2.99 per item.

We - the international customer - would like to 'complain' but we don't get heard - or have the option to use other US online stores

Well I deal with Amazon.ca and they are fantastic. I have only had two movies I think where the cases were a bit damaged so I filled out the return stuff on their website and I had a replacement copy within a couple of days, no questions asked. I have recently decided to go 100% Amazon.ca for ALL of my Blu-ray purchases.

I am also a Prime member and order from them frequently.

A while back, UPS 'delivered' a Blu-Ray to me, except it wasn't my address they left it at - not even my town.

I called Amazon and related what happened and they shipped a replacement overnight while they were investigating what went wrong.

I received the replacement the next day and the original shipment showed up a few days later. I called Amazon and they told me to keep it, and apologized again for the mix-up.

The original shipment was addressed correctly, so it wasn't their mistake, but their focus was on getting me what I ordered, not playing CYA.

Unbeatable customer service.

Let me see if I've got this right - you made an order knowing that if you choose this option there can be a delay in mailing it. And then you object because Amazon does exactly what it told you it would do? I'd write to your senator - this sort of crooked practise has got to be stamped on hard.

I understand that the free super saver shipping policy indicates that you have to willingly wait longer to get your items. I'm not dumb. I was just complaining that other vendors offer free shipping, and ship the products out sooner tham Amazon.

What was hazy is that they wouldn't ship items under this method of shipping, until the items were available.

Amazon's definition of availability:

Quote:
What Availability Estimates Mean
The availability estimate listed on each product detail page tells you if we have at least one unit of the item you wish to order in one of our fulfillment centers. If the item is not in stock, the availability estimate tells you how long we think it will take to receive the item from our suppliers.
If they have one unit, then it is available, then why isn't it shipping? Also, by saying you have to wait a little longer, does that mean they are using a slower shipping method? Who knows, because they don't specify.

Why do you think they changed the policy to ""Once your items ship, your order will be delivered within 5-9 business days?"

I think Amazon is a good place to shop from, I've said it in previous posts in this thread. Does that mean they don't have a problem or two? No. Sorry you can't see this.
