If you import dvd/bluray at all you will want the bh200 as it can be region free. If you want the best upconverting capability, the up5000 is your best choice. Otherwise they are both about the same feature wise.

Both the Samsung 500 and LG 200 internally decode TrueHD and bitstream (only) DTS MA.

BD-UP5000 all the way if you don't care about region-free BD, even more so if you have an older receiver that is incapable of decoding lossless formats. The benefits of REON can't really be overstated either if you have a sizable DVD collection.

There are some more BD-UP5000 whores here like myself...don't let the trigger happy haters above dissuade you.

Fittingly enough, Neutral HD Fan's comment is the only fair and balanced one I've seen so far.

I'm a little late, but I'd say the BH 200 all the way... love that player.

Except the 5000's implementation of the REON isn't the best available, and the QDEO in the BH200 is one of the most underrated upscalers available.

    Mmm... BH200... Mmm...

Okay, so that makes the upscaling somehow inferior on the BD-UP5000? Opinions have varied too much to make the claim that its implementation fails before all others.

A con for the BH200: HDMI handshake problems with Pioneer receivers and older HDMI revisions.

Honestly, where are all the 5000 owners? I'm really getting sick of seeing the belittling of this player. If it was such shit, I wouldn't have bought TWO of them.

For all the one-sided endorsements in this thread, the only reasons to pick one over the other at this present time are as follows:

5000: Analog outs and the reputation of REON upscaling.
BH200: Region switching and USB input.

All of the rest is subjective noise, period.

Agreed. The QDeo is not well known, but is a very, very capable upscaler. I've had both the BH200 and the BD-UP5000 and I would say thet PERSONALLY they are neck and neck in regards to features, PQ and AQ (though LG was there first), with a very slight nod to the Samsung for upconversion thanks to the Reon.

Though like most people say; if you're looking to ever play import BDs and DVDs go with LG, if you're looking at upscaling go with the Samsung.
