Default disappointing blind buys

which blind buys have you purchased and been disappointed with? when eastern promises came out on people were raving about how good it was but imo i would have rather spent my money on something else. it was an okay movie but i could live without it and it doesn't get good until the last 30 mins.

The Game HD DVD
I'm sure there are more in my collection, just can't think of any others right now. I was really looking forward to that and when the review came out when my Amazon order was still shipping I felt like refusing the package. I decided the hell with it it can't be that bad. Yeah. It was. The transfer sucked.

Hancock for sure. It had good audio and video but the movie was a total letdown. Good thing I sold it off to someone here on the forums!

i'd have to say The Signal bluray, that was a let down. that movie was good the beginning, then it got really boring and the ending was a let down. also all the comedy movies on bluray are a let down, id rather spend money on normal comedy dvd than blu comedies. the only good one so far is Tropic Thunder and Talledega nights, good audio!!

I didn't buy Beowulf, but I rented it on Netflix and I couldn't finish it, it was really bad and surprisingly, graphically violent. But, from what I remember from my high school English class, the story was pretty violent too.

when I picked up a PS3 a few months after launch, I just assumed all Blu-ray's looked pretty decent. (I hadn't discovered this site til a month or two later) So my first and most rememerable "disappointing blind buy" would have to be "The House of Flying Daggers". I thought the PQ was so horrible that I almost convinced myself to exchange it for another one....then I found this site and realized that some discs are just bad. The funny thing is that the other choice I was gonna make was "The Fifth Element" (before the remaster). I was doomed either way.

Just thought of another one. T2 Blu ray. 1st Blu ray I ever bought and it was a HUGE disappoinment, especially after I found out how much better all the HD DVD versions were. I knew about this site at the time but I didn't bother reading the review first. It doesn't matter cause I woulda still bought it at the time because it's one of my favorite movies and I would want to have the only HD version out at the time.
