I thought The Proposition was phenomenal.

I bought the proposition on a blind buy for $9 and forgot about it until this past weekend when I finally watched it. I thought it was great.

On the other hand, I blind bought Semi-Pro and I kept waiting for the funny.... but it never came. I just sold it on the forums in the $10 thread..... I'm glad I no longer have to bare that curse.

I gotta chip in here after that HD DVD reminder up there...

I had a BAD WEEK of blind buys that didn't pay off like I'd hoped, with three movies I had heard so much greatness about. Partly based on the over the top violence (I watched two of these with my wife...awkward), partly because they weren't watchable more than once...

Beowulf, Eastern Promises, and Zodiac. Traded 'em all instantly.

p.s. Now, it had a heckuva lot of violence in it...but it fit within the story. I have to agree with the other recent poster... The Proposition was one of the biggest surprises I've seen in awhile. One of the most DEPRESSING movies I've ever witnessed...but a fantastic show that you HAVE to watch at least once.
p.p.s. Sorry another poster above got sucked into getting Indiana Jones. Speaking of depressed, I've never left a theatre feeling so crappy.

I thought it was boring, but I feel the same about most westerns.

<shrug> Some mindless popcorn flicks just don't appeal to me. Day after Tomorrow might be the worst movie ever made as far as im concerned. People willing to drown just so they can make a cell phone call....bah...<spits>.Just silly.

Fast and the Furious on hd dvd. I only saw the last two and thought they were decent, so I bought the first one. It is awful in almost every way and I regret buying it (although is was under $5). Best blind-buy was Crank on blu-ray or Babel on hd dvd.

I honestly don't blind buy movies. If I did not see the movie in the theater and I want to see it I always just rent it. If it's something I felt is worth watching more than twice or so then I go out and buy it.

I will be doing more blind buying of movie's since the theater experience is starting to really get to me, and rentals for HD is limited and expensive where I am ( i.e. talking, seat kicking ) recent blind buy's I'm waiting for are :

The Express
Saints and Soldiers (uk)
Band of Brothers
Mamma Mia
The War
Viva Las Vegas
Touching the void

Worst recent movie is Excalibur on hd dvd, I haven't seen it in 15 years, the disc is just mediocre in every aspect of quality and the movie I found extremely slow and all over the place.

I liked Exaclibur and the HD DVD doesn't look that great, but it blows the SD DVD out of the water and I know because I used to have it.
