Default 1080p on HDReady

I have Sanyo AZ500 (Projector) an old 42 Marantz HD Ready without HDMI and considering a Panasonic 50" monitor my question is if i play an 1080p movie could i enjoy the whole 1080p or ill see exactly like a 720p movie?
and if I cant enjoy the entire 1080 will it get stuck or can ruin my device?

Tnx, LeorD

whatever the resolution of the display is what you will see.
So let's say you feed a 1080p signal into a 720p set.
well the tv will take that signal and display it as 720p.
simple as that.
just make sure the display device can accept a 1080p signal.
many people get confused because they read that the display can "accept" a 1080p signal, but what the advertisers fail to say is that the display might not be able to "output" or "display" a 1080p signal.
No tv that is 720p can display a 1080p signal AT 1080p resolution.
make sense?

if the projector is 720p and is fed a 1080p signal it will output the signal as a 720p signal onto the screen for viewing as long as it can "accept" a 1080p signal.
