Default "Birthday Wishes" Thread

In honor of High-Def Digest's first birthday, our editor Peter Bracke has posted this list of ten titles that he'd love to see hit high-def over the coming year:

http://www.highdefdigest.com/feature...daywishes.html

What do you think of his list, and which titles would *you* add to it?

Please, no format bashing here. For the sake of this discussion, imagine a perfect world with a single high-def disc format -- which movies would you want to see on it and why?

Happy anniversary HD Digest.

This list is disregarding formats. These are just the films/shows I want in HD, in no particular order:

1. Rocky anthology
2. Band of Brothers (U.S. release...I know it's coming in Japan)
3. Blade trilogy (I'll just ignore the third one )
4. The Crow
5. Freddy vs. Jason
6. Jurassic Park films
7. Pulp Fiction
8. Mortal Kombat (shut up, I'm sick of the godawful non-anamorphic DVD release)
9. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
10. Spider-Man films

...and I wouldn't cry if all of the Star Wars movies were released. I'm not really a fan but I'm sure they'd be the pinnacle of picture and audio quality for HD.

One thing in the original article - it says...

I just want to commend everybody at High-Def Digest for doing a phenomenal job at covering all that is HD. This is the first site I visit every morning. I can't think of a higher compliment than that. I also admire the level-headedness in your editorials regarding this pointless format war. My biggest wish would be for the format war to end quickly. The sooner it does, the sooner we'll all benefit.

Most of my favorite titles are older or low-budget films which I know wouldn't look all that great in HD. So I've left them off this list. Omitting titles that have already been announced as being in the works, my wishlist for favorites that would shine in HD is as follows:

1. The Thin Red Line
2. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
3. Lord of the Rings
4. Hero
5. Apocalypse Now
6. The Wild Bunch
7. Big Trouble in Little China
8. Master & Commander
9. Geronimo: An American Legend
10. Baraka

Great list ... here are the ones on my top ten:

1) Gladiator
2) Braveheart
3) Glory
4) Tombstone
5) It's a Wonderful Life
6) Star Trek the Next Generation TV Series and Movies
7) Princess Bride
8) Quantum Leap
9) Ken Burns' Baseball and Civil War Documentaries
