Default Whose correct, Amazon or USPS????

So what's the deal with the tracking numbers that Amazon offers us??
If I click on the "track package" button in the Amazon account information, They claim my package was picked up by the courier on July 16th.
But when I copy/paste the tracking number into the USPS website, they show that they were notified electonically on July 17th that a package is ready for pick up.
Who are we supposed to believe??
I have noticed from day one that Amazon and USPS are NEVER in sinc.
And I've never really figured out who I'm supposed to trust.

USPS is never something to rely on other than delivery confirmation. They really do not offer true tracking. Sometimes they do scan at each location and you get updated, but usually a day behind tracking info.

Amazon is just getting the same info, wording it differently.

I guess it's been a while since I had amazon send anything USPS since I signed up for prime, everything is UPS 2nd day.

moving this one to general, out of bargains.

i honestly believe the amazon one more, however, since they're creating their own labels, they have a lead on the USPS picking it up and showing in their system, and w/ many paypal sellers (using stamps.com or paypal shipping), items say they're shipped sometimes a day or two before they actually are.....

i trust hard, in post office, receipts. online shipping all has this discrepancy.

Amazon's shipping portal is convenient for customers, but sometimes the information is not in real-time.

Also USPS is not as efficient as UPS with tracking, I've had packages delivered that showed no scans and others that show an arrival scan in another state and next day it's delivered. I consider USPS tracking more as a guideline, not as precise as UPS.
