Default PC & Blu-ray Advice

I just purchased a new laptop, Sony Vaio FZ, and am really impressed with it.

I'm looking for a Blu-ray or HD DVD drive to couple with my HD Gateway monitor. Anyone have any advice on internal or external?

Might have more luck at a hardware forum but you will need an external drive if you are hooking it up to the laptop. If its going into a tower then internal is usually cheaper and sometimes a bit faster.

But there is no point to getting a drive unless your graphics card can output 1080p to your display but it seems like it does?

I haven't read through the manual, but the specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 3GB of DDR2, 250GB hard drive, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 - which is blu-ray & HD DVD capable and it has an HDMI port on the side. This thing is pretty loaded for the price. And I have a 21' Gateway HD monitor that I really want to check out in HD. Might even hook up my A35 to it.

I know the VAIO's come with a Blu-ray upgrade, so I probable just look into getting one through the Sony website.

Thanks for the advice though.
