You're right, BD is doomed. I'll cancel the 12 discs I have on the way from Amazon.

Wait, no I won't.

Shouldn't you be posting in the smackdown forum so I can insult you?

Ya. Its all over folks. No HD format ever again. Too bad too. I'll have to dig out my VHS tapes and DVDs. While I'm at it, I'll look for my 8-track player to re-instal as I'm sure my CDs will be next to hit the chopping block. No big deal. It was fun while it lasted though.

Hey guys, relax! I didn't mean to insult Blu-Ray at all. I would definitely have a player and plenty of movies if I wasn't on a student budget, and not that's not a dis either.

I just wanted to know what people thought of mainstream news' take. I personally think it is ridiculous that someone would say there isn't a difference between Blu/DVD.

No bashing, I was just seeing what you guys thought.

PS: I know that Blu is here to stay and is now the standard in Hi-Def format. There, I said it.

It would have been better to state...

I think your missing the point. You fanboys take everything as a personal attack on blu-ray. What their saying is that to most consumers the difference between blu-ray and upscaled dvd is minumal at best. Certainly not worth the extra price to upgrade. I personally don't agree. Some upscaled movies look very good upscaled, but a lot don't. Regardless this should be of some concern to the BDA.

I think people should stop speaking for "most consumers" when in 1 year's time, blu-ray + hddvd have gone from being <1% of the movie market to BLU-RAY ONLY being ~8% consistently of the weekly movie sales.

I'm sick of articles talking about joe six pack, and to be honest, the previous hd-dvd supporters trying to speak for joe six pack. If you ardently backed the hd-dvd horse, you're the same to me as a stock broker who analyzes the same trend for a year and continues to lose money with an unchanged strategy.

If you're predicting doom and gloom for blu-ray, trying to speak for j6p, or were a staunch hd-dvd optimist - your analysis has already proven itself close to 0% worthwhile. And I mean that 100% seriously without trying to insult anyone. You just honestly dont know how to watch a market.

You've misread those statistics (which, admittedly, was the intent behind how they were designed). The recent pie charts comparing Blu-ray to DVD only compare the top 20 titles on each format. The Number 100 DVD still outsells all Blu-rays combined quite easily. As a whole, Blu-ray is still around 1% of the DVD market.

I didn't want to take the time to correct Badger. I just let him continue to fool himself into thinking Blu-ray sales is 8% of DVD sales, when closer to 1%.

, and of corse Josh's sats are crap as well your comparing a format with 500+ titles to one that has 1000's upon 1000's.
"(which, admittedly, was the intent behind how they were designed)"
,or it was an attempt to level the playing field. Top 20 was a way to try to gage what's going and what will go on in the vs. DVD war when more tiles are available for .

The writer of that article has a real flare for the obvious. It's just bad timing. That could have been an article about plasma tvs, or full-size SUVs, or caviar.

People gotta eat and put gas in the car. And they're both getting harder to do.
