Default I consider myself the most die-hard of HD DVD fans.

However I am not a fan boy by all means, so of course now I have a 40GB PS3. I will definitely not sell my HD collection off because it is 'perfect.' However I must say I have enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, Stargate and Flight of the Phoenix if anyone cares to read.

Traitor.lol I'm just kidding. I can understand you buying a ps3. Just because hd dvd could not pull it off doesn't mean you should deprive yourself of a hobby you enjoy. I'm holding off on buying many blu-ray's right now. I am gonna get a huge collection of hd dvd's to enjoy for many years. I am also holding out to see what the whole dvd 2.0 thing is all about. This sounds very promising. It is being developed by Microsoft, Toshiba and also Panasonic. Which is kinda ironic since they are one of blu-ray's biggest backers. This kinda sounds like hd dvd but with red lasers and a little lower resolution. I know 960p isn't 1080p but from what I understand any signal above 720p is considered hd. Also the average joe can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. I think hd vmd also uses red lasers but it doesn't have any studio support so it is doa. I do know when Microsoft releases there next xbox they will either have to swallow their pride and add blu-ray or try and develop this. Standard dvd will just not cut it at that point.

I didnt buy it, my brother did, so it was free actually. HA, but come on, if someone handed you a free PS3 would you not take it?

And yes that new DVD 2.0 looks intriquing.

Most die-hard HD DVD fan? I dunno if I could call you THE MOST die-hard of HD DVD fans, but I'd say you're up there no doubt.
Just like you, I have both a 360 HD DVD add-on and an A-30 player, and I have 87 HD DVDs, I'd say we're just about equal here.
I mean I consider myself a fan of HD DVD, but I've seen guys on this site with quite a few HD DVD players and hundreds upon hundreds of HD DVD movies.

Well, I guess I am not the only one who did not sell off their collection. I actually added to mine and still plan to do so.

Yeah me too. It's a great format. Who cares if it comes in a ugly aqau blue case or whatever that color is. I think were actually the smarter ones here. Why not enjoy hd dvd since it is so cheap right now. If blu-ray does take off, and that is still a big if, we can always move towards it if there is no other option. I'm still pulling for the new technology dvd 2.0.

I'd not heard about dvd 2.0 untill I read this thread, so I did a quick search & the 1st article I found that mentioned it said this

Quote:
1. Video encoded in MPEG2 SD
2. HD available via Super Upconversion to 960p
I'd like to know if the actual data capacity is any greater than a regular dvd.

I can't find much about this either. It does sound very promising though if it just isn't vaporware. It seems feasable to me though. I have a few dvd's that look darn near hd to me. It doesn't have the same pop as hd dvd, but it's close. If Toshiba and Microsoft continue to give blu-ray a cold shoulder then something is up. I can't see Toshiba just blowing off hd and Microsoft is gonna have to put some form of hd in it's next box. I know they are looking towards downloads but that is probably at least 5 yrs. away from being mainstream. Most people only own 720p tvs right now. If there dvd's are upscaled to 960p that should be just fine with j6p. I know most of the hd set's sold at Wal-Mart are only 720p. I will be keeping a eye on this story though.

No it is a normal dvd disc. If you want true hd get a blu ray player. Super up will be nice for your catalog but not as the future, billy is a toshiba troll.....

Also billy if you can't tell what 720p and 1080p is then man your blind, my 85yr grandmother can see that.

Well if someone is talking about being a die hard HD DVD fan. I am without a doubt. Over 120 titles and counting. I enjoyed it much and still think that is superior in technology to blu ray. But that does not mean anything since it lost the format war.

I like HD DVD really well and I like Blu-ray even better. I am glad HD DVD will soon be gone from store shelves and we can see if this market can start rocking and rolling.

Nothing wrong with a die hard HD DVD fan.

Only a die hard HD DVD fanboy (or Blu-ray for that matter).
