Hi all, in an attempt anyone from London is reading this i shall be in the capital this weekend for one night and was hoping to pick up some high def discs so can anyone with local knowledge tell me if there is a good small scale or independant (or something) store which is a bit cheaper. Dont want to shop at HMV or Zavvi due to stupedously high prices.
If not that then a store which sells DVDs cheaper than most retail store especially if they sell import discs coz it would be nice to be able to buy cloverfield, mist or sweeny todd. I know Lincoln had a store which specialised in imports so does London have anything similar. Thanks for any help you can provide |

Selling imported discs is, strictly speaking, on dodgy ground legally. Films sold in the UK have to be certificated by the BBFC (the UK equivalent of the MPAA).
Your best bet might be the Cinema Store (Unit 4b, Orion House, Upper St Martin's Lane (near Leicester Square)). They sell imported DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Their prices can be extortionate, though! There are a few independent record / DVD shops around the Berwick Street market area, including a few that sell second-hand discs for reasonable prices (by high street standards, anyway). There's a branch of Record and Tape Exchange there. They have a string of similar shops in the Notting Hill area. A reply to a similar query to yours recently suggested Video Junction in Camden might be worth visiting. They have a myspace page: here.
