Default Your First!

I thought this may be fun. List the first DVD, HD DVD, & Blu-ray titles you purchased and why.

DVD- Blade: the reason is it came out much earlier on DVD than VHS... I actually purchased this before I purchased a DVD player... had to watch it at a friends lol.

- Serenity: I loved the tv series Firefly and never seen this. The HD DVD add on came with King Kong as well.

- Rush Hour 3, Fifth Element, Punisher, Spider-man 3: Purchased PS3 and got Spider-Man free, got Rush Hour 3 and Fifth Element cause I am a Chris Tucker mark, and Punisher was only $11 on Amazon when I made the order.

DVD - Reefer Madness - Cause "hey who don't like a little reefer madness"

HD DVD - Serenity - Cause I only had 4 titles to choose from and that one looked the most promising (got my HD DVD player about 2 weeks after release date)

BD - Pretty sure the first thing I bought was Fifth Element because I remember being horribly disappointed. Got a PS3 about a week after release date..Watched it sitting there raising my electric bill by the second and bought a movie for it. But then again I bought a UMD movie once too...

Laserdisc - I can't remember what the first one was but I bought it at a pawn shop cause it was huge and shiny..Had to find a player for it so that led to the 600+ collection (the 1st disc was some horror flick about sewing people together..had a red cover with a picture of a woman's torso with sewn on arms and legs..can't imagine why I wouldn't remember this)

My First DVD was also Blade. I didn't have a DVD player either, had to go to the neighbor's house to watch it.

My First Blu was The Italian Job. It was the only blu at best buy that I didn't already own on DVD. At that time I had a strict no-rebuy policy that was obvious broken many many many times....

My first HD DVD was the Matrix Trilogy.... the whole reason I got an HD DVD player in the first place. I miss them dearly since the great sale of January 2008.

great memories.

Her name was Tracey and she was the sweetest little thing. Brown hair and green eyes and a raspy voice....oh shit my fault. lol

DVD: Devils Advocate. "I'm a fan of man!"

HD DVD: Casablanca, Eyes Wide Shut. Bogart in HD, forget about it. Also EWS, loved the movie and had to get it on HD. One of the reason I first bought an HDM player, for the Kubrick titles.

Blu-ray: Rocky, Castaway. Again, love both movies.

dvd--have no idea
HD DVD: "Charlie and the Chocolate factory" and "The Polar Express"
(I bought them at the same time)
no specific reason although I had read that "Charlie" looked really good, and it was around X-mas.
Blu-Ray--not positive, but I think it was "Casino Royale."
I bought about 10 bds before I bought my player, and I know that "Casino" and "Pirates 2 and 3" were the earliest one's.

btw: I remember my first cd--it was "Texas Flood" by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

DVD - I don't remember since I had a DVD player in my computer years before I purchased a standalone player.

Bladerunner Ultimate Collectors Edition. A mistake purchase by my G/F for Christmas.

Pixars Short Collection Vol. 1. Then I recieved the correct Bladerunner Blu-Ray version.

LD I don't remember what my first laserdisc* was. But the last one I purchased (Feb 08) was an unopened Criterion Edition of Swing Time (1936). Criterion never released a dvd version. I can't wait to burn a copy of this one.

*how come there isn't a laserdisc icon ?
